Is this not an interesting enough topic? or just a 'nobody' posting questions not well known enough to answer? I've been reading this for years, surely there's a Pasco VFR guy on here... to help a brother out.
Re: Pasco
From what I gather the goose is doing the flying out of Bella Bella for the fishing lodges. 4N brings supplies up and people up from YVR and the goose takes the aforementioned the rest of the way to the lodge.. Pasco is also doing the ground handling for 4N.

Take a road trip and go meet the crew up in Port Hardy.. Ya never know when the right place right time senario will come into play. Its the right time of year. Id say if you have some coast/float time..it would be well worth the effort of visiting up there. The Pasco crew was always very welcoming to other float drivers. If nothing else you can check em out and meet a decent crew.coastpup wrote:Just wandering, would love to get some boat time before they're possibly parked.
I hadnt heard any rumours even of a Goose in YVR? Stranger things have happened though.
Fly safe all.

Re: Pasco
Same thing Sowind did after the EMB110 crash.. They put all their planes under our neighbours AOC and it was business as usual right afterwards.
Re: Pasco
It would be nice to see the goose keep flying. Any truth to the rumour of the company selling the VFR crafts? Are they paying too much for insurance? How many are wet this summer? Four? Thanks for the interest...

Re: Pasco
I did a seaon with them in Hardy in 2004. One of the best jobs I've had. The A/C were nice, maintenance was never an issue, and the only pressure to fly was pressure you put on yourself. Great people too. It's the shits that there are Bozos around that shouldn't even have an AOC, and a nice outfit like Pasco is on the radar because of bad luck. Ok...Well...Awful luck.
Still a shame...

Interesting comment, could you enlighten us further?privateer wrote:
I think its more under the lines of getting from A to B with a company that can actually do it safely and legally.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

I think he was reffering to two crashes in a short period of time in IMC conditions... but perhaps is a bit misinformed as to the causes..
The public perception of pasco took a huge hit.. which is too bad, I always thought they ran a good show.
However.. it'll now be done with another companies ifr capable twin otters.
How is the hardy operation doing? The machines busy this summer or slow due to the poor economy? Are they just running the beavers?

Re: Pasco
4 gooses and both beavers are running.
St John's lodge closed which was a big one for Pasco. Some other lodges went with other airlines because of Pasco's new VFR limits and safety culture.
Tidbit:
A company wouldn't give them an alternetive to not getting into the lodge so they went with another airline. So instead of using Pasco to go to Bella Bella and then to a lodge 15 minutes from there... They fly them to Sandspit and then an hour down from there in an otter. First day they can't get in and fly the guys back to Sandspit. Hotels and stuff. Haha. Take THAT.

The Grumman Goose is far more IFR capable than a Twin Otter on the west coast unless the Twin Otter is on Amphibs.However.. it'll now be done with another companies ifr capable twin otters.
