The Queen has appointed Jean Chrétien to the exclusive Order

Post by shannon »

The honour is restricted to 24 living members and few foreigners. It puts Mr. Chrétien's name alongside such esteemed figures as Albert Schweitzer, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela.

Somehow I don't think Stevie will be receiving this honour.

No, but like any foreign honour, he would have to receive permission from the Chancellery (Government House) to accept it.

The funny thing is that it was pressure by Quebec / French Canadians that lead to this rule, and why many Canadians have had to decline such honours.

Heaven forbid, don't ditch the Monarchy. We've got to have at least one part of our Federal government that we don't vote for, gets to make laws we have to abide by, gets great salaries and only have to show-up for work one day out of the year to get that salary and the great pension that goes with. Just like an old honourable part of Parliament in the 'Motherland'......the House of Lords. To think any Canadian would wish to take that away from us and maybe even call us a Republic? Christ, what is the world coming to anyway.

I do have some doubts though about the people who live in that place called Buckingham Palace. If they truly believe that our Jean Chretien is worthy enough to sit with the likes of those other 23 individuals, then that may be proof right there that too much close in-breeding has finally effected their brains. I'm also assuming that I read and heard correctly. That was Jean Chretin who was appointed by the Queen to be a member of that establishment, together with the other 23 outstanding humans wasn't it? Now I wonder if any of them would be interested in buying a golf course that Jean still has up for sale?

He ought to be in jail. Instead, this?!

If I was a member of this "order" I would be
offended to be associated with such a criminal.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawinigate
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sponsorship_scandal

Who knows what else he stole and didn't get caught?
Critics of the Liberal Party and even former Liberals, like Sheila Copps, argued that the sponsorship scandal has highlighted a "culture of corruption" within the Canadian government
And appointment to this order is how such corrupt
leadership is rewarded?

I'm going to barf now.

Just to clarify: this is NOT an anti-Liberal rant. No,
the Conservatives have proven time and time again
that they, too, can be just as corrupt as the Liberals,
given a chance:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_affair

Remember our ol' buddy Brian Mulroney, who actually
admitted taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes
while PM?

Brian and Jean oughta be in a jail cell. Instead, they're
celebrated Canadian heroes and leaders.

Makes me want to vomit.

Other great moves by Jean Cretin:

- Wasting $500M on the EH-101 cancellation (to spite Mulroney)

- Blew $800M on leaky used British submarines that caught fire

- HRDC billion-dollar scandal

- Forcing Conrad Black to renounce his Canadian
Citizenship (pure spiteful, vindictive chickensh1t)

Great work, Jean! I wish I could tell you how
proud you make me, to be a Canadian, with a
leader like you!

Afer your all done barfing, you can start back in Canadian history with John A. MacDonald znd read forward in time. Bythe time you get to the present you'll be well into 'the dry heaves'.WhileChretin and Mulroney are as crooked as the letter "S", they're mere amateurs compared to their predecessors and their Parties..........and not one of them ever went to jail or Court either.

Yeah, here's another doozy:

William Lyon Mackenzie King, who I am told was one
of Canada's greatest PM, was a lunatic who governed
the country based upon what a "psychic" told him his
dead dog and mother said.

He brought us the infamous customs scandal, where
he appointed a corrupt minister to the Senate!

What great government! I am SO proud to be a
Canadian.

Why all you sheep accept such crappy, corrupt
government is beyond me.

Hedley --------my friend, you've missed the point. It's not just us and the Americans that have that problem. Start checking 'Jolly old' and you'll find the same thing again. That's why I tell Canadians..'don't be pointing at other people and the shit they're standing in, if when you look down, you're standing in the same kind of shit. Some shit is just stinkier than others maybe?   'Sides, Mackenzie King was just weird that's all and crooked and weird are two different things.

You miss my point. I don't really care if other countries
have crappy, corrupt governments - that's their problem
and their fault.

I don't think anyone could possibly argue that Canada,
given it's track record, suffers from pretty crappy, corrupt
government - which is our fault and nobody else's.

I don't like crappy, corrupt government. Perhaps it is
a character weakness of mine. Personally, I think other
people should stop accepting crappy, corrupt government.

Would you pay for rotten food? Of course not - you would
refuse it. What's the difference with government? You're
paying for it - why accept such crap for (and waste of) your
hard-earned taxpayer's dollar?

Everyone: it's YOUR government. You're paying for it.
Demand better.

Well Hedley, once you elect a bunch of creeps to Ottawa and they do so with a majority, then they don't have talk or deal with you for another 5 years. So if you don't like what they're doing or saying in the meantime, just how do you kick theie asses out of power anyway. If the Americans get pissed-off enough then they have impeachment laws on their books to get rid of those they elect if they so desire. We have absolutely nothing like that, so you're just plain old stuck with whoever you voted in just like me. Most of us forget anyways when we've had 'a number done on us' or been screwed around someway by Ottawa politicians or some Party. The Liberal Party even had it proven in a Court of Enquiry that they embezzeled $75,000,000 from Canadians and I'll be damned if some Canadians aren't ready to re-elect them again. Like Forrest Gump said......"Stupid is as stupid does".
