Hey Osprey,
Could we get a bit more information such as where, when and which company? I don't know of any caribous in Canada but I know there are a few buffaloes.

I think he was referring to the company, Wasp - Cariboo - as in North Cariboo.

I haven't heard anything about a gear up though, just clarifying perhaps.

Apparently it was a King Air 100 landed gear up in YEG. Not confirmed however i did hear that no one was hurt.

He is a self admitted newbie to the site. If you were using Firefox you could just right click the images and then click view image. Or resize them for him but then I guess he'll never learn

check the last pic they did, if you look at the cones set out (I assume by the TSB) you can see they mark the prop or the engine nacelles skid marks and it then veers off to the right.

Was this a controlled gear up due to mechanical issues or was this an oops?

I'm gonna stake a stab and say it was an oops. They were coming in high and hot, and the fire department wasn't waiting for them like they would if they had declared a gear malfunction. But you never know, the 3 green lights could have been lit up, but no physical hardware hanging from the belly.

If that's the case and they didn't know it, it's still an oops. If one can't hear whether the gear extended in the 100, then they need their ears checked.

Isn't there a gear warning horn that sounds when greater than flap 2 is selected and the handle is not down? They definitely have flap hanging in the pictures.

I didn't intend to blame anybody for anything, just commenting on the one possibility raised (ie: three greens and no gear extended). That's why I used "one" instead of "they". You're right, maybe it wasn't locked. Maybe they bounced hard on landing and the F/O's knee caught the gear selector (I'm not actually serious). Who knows. I'll be the first to give the crew the benefit of the doubt. The aforementioned scenario seems rather unlikely, anyway.

Yes, the gear horn should sound if landing flap is selected with no gear, and it cannot be silenced in that case.

If my memory serves me the gear horn is set at 77% N1 (switches on the power levers around 400ft/lbs), gear silence is disabled with flaps approach and the gear horn should sound continuously with flaps past approach.

They were “maybe” way too busy bitching and complaining about how little money they “were” making and talking about starting up a pilot’s union, than worrying about some stupid, annoying gear horn??

Very unfortunate to see... that the emergency response services vehicle broke down :-)

But in all seriousness, glad no one was hurt and a good reminder that we all have to bring our A game every day, every flight, every leg...

Flap 2 :!: Last time I flew the Beech King Air the flap travel was in percent. 30 % for approach flap and full down was 100 %.

Yes....a real stroke of luck! An "intentional" gear up landing and all we hear is "at least everybody was Okay...."
WHERE are these people learning to fly??? It's NOT Okay, just because nobody happened to get killed! Pilots keep "dropping the ball"! Who GARA what your SOP's were? If you FORGET the gear, you are a moron! Aw...."That's too bad...." It's WAY more than "too bad...."
