work on the side
Hey,
Just curious if anyone here has another job outside of aviation. If so what do you do? I know a few people who drive trucks and another that waits tables from time to time. Lately, I’ve found that I have a little extra time and wouldn’t mind doing something on the side now and then. I’m not hard up for cash but could always use more.
Cheers,
fruz

Re: work on the side
I've been trying but I think having the flying job on the resume dampens my chances as they figure if any scheduling conflict ever arise, my loyalty will be to my flying job. Hmm

I run a small photography company and I am usually booked every Saturday in the summer for weddings. I use vacation days if necessary: $2,000/day taking pictures vs. Aviation Pay

I flew in the morning than worked at a coffee shop in the evening to make ends meet. I also flew in the afternoon and fueled airplanes in the evening for another job. Now I just fly airplanes all day and all night.

I stand on the street corner in my tightest, shortest leather mini. So far, business has not been very good. Must be the economy?

You might want to try shaving your legs and wearing a banana hammock instead of going commando... just sayin'Doc wrote:I stand on the street corner in my tightest, shortest leather mini. So far, business has not been very good. Must be the economy?

How about becoming an industry SMS auditor? Likely to be lots of demand.

I work in retail at 9.50 an hour, because nobody else would take me with 5-10 days of work a month...
Still comes to 700 more bucks per month.

Retail is AWESOME, particularly if you can get on somewhere that interests you.
I worked at Wholesale Sports last winter since flying jobs were nonexistant. Never took home a paycheque.. wait, maybe retail ISN'T such a good idea??

I work as a gas-plant operator in the winter. I also work as a "pumper" (oil-well operator). 8 days on, 6 days off, more money than Otter flying. I have often found myself wondering why I fly commercially. Hmmmm....
Drinking lots of coffee lately, at a nice safe jungle desk, wishing I were flying......

Curent work is quality control in the local house of dis repute, the work load is quite exhausting for someone that is 67.

Re: work on the side
I simply lack the hours outside of my aviation related vocations to pursue work on the side. Although I have done janitorial work for my father-in-law during periods where I was laid off.
If I had the time, I would play slide-guitar in front of the Liquor Store. Easy work, outdoors, and tax-free earnings to boot!

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
