FAA to Canadian License conversion

Post by ntbjounin »

So I took my Canadian medical exam a few weeks ago. I understand it takes a couple of weeks for that paperwork to get filed in the TCCA. I cant proceed without the # of my Canadian medical exam.

Has anyone here converted the certificates? I have at least found the steps I need to take on the TCCA website. That will convert my Commercial certificate, but what about my Flight Instructor Certificate? Does anyone know how to convert that? Has anyone done this? How long did it take? How much did it cost? I'd love some help.
Who can I call to see if they've even filed my medical yet?

The only thing I know is that your FAA CFI does not convert directly to a TC Flight Instructor Rating. You have to essentially do that from scratch at a Canadian Flight Training Unit. If it makes you feel any better, I'm going through the TC to FAA ATPL conversion, and while type ratings transfer, my TC flight instructor rating doesn't.

Edited to add:
With regards to your file number, try contacting either the HQ number on the page below, or whichever regional HQ you did your TC medical in. They MIGHT be able to help...

thank you. yea i was afraid of that about the Instructor.

I did my medical in Texas with a TCCA certified Doctor. Does he belong to a specific HQ? or can I just pick one? Vancouver is easiest for me. So If i get to pick one... Excellent!

I'd call the headquarters in Ottawa then.
Good luck!
