Even if Al Franken was a satan worshiping neo-nazi, what possible reason could someone have to go against a bill that closes a loophole that almost makes rape legal in certain cases?

I think these guys should have waited for a different bill to get pushed before trying to shut it down just because they dislike who is proposing it.

First off, just WTF does a rape bill have to do with the 2009 Defense Appropriations bill? Secondly, would they please list the political affiliation of all those who signed the get-out-of-jail-free card for Roman Polanski. Remember him? He's the guy who drugged a 13-tyear old and fucked her up the ass, despite her repeated protests. Now there's a rape you can get your teeth into. Or maybe not, after all, Whoopie Goldberg described it as not really rape-rape.

If I understand it is because the Defense Appropriations bill dictates whom the government can hire and how, etc.

Al Franken wants to make it so the government cannot hire companies that have these sort of practices.
