There's no delay. Often, military spotters are supplemented with trained civilian volunteers from CASARA units who may only be able to contribute a specific period of time. As well, spotting is a very fatiguing activity so having additional resources available on hand to rotate personnel is important. NOASARA is based out of Thunder Bay so I would imagine that they have already been providing resources and as Moose47 indicates, additional personnel are being brought in as the search continues.midwingcrisis wrote:Previous poster said he/she was being readied for a mission tomorrow?? Thanks for info/update. Just thought this story would be more worthy in the media. Only saw it on a local Dryden radio stn. Hope all works out.

It's 22:25 Zulu and there is not a damned word about the crash in any of the mainstream media.
Absolutely pathetic!
In case anyone is interested, our one way tickets to Sioux Lookout on Bearskin are 891.00 bucks a piece. Thankfully, we'll be coming home by Herc.
Cheers...Chris

I hope they find them soon.Efforts Continue To Find Aircraft
Posted by Richard McCarthy on Sunday, November 8th, 2009 am 11:18:43 AM
Efforts are continuing today to find a missing aircraft in Northwestern Ontario. A massive air, water and ground search continues for a Lockhart Air Service aircraft which did not reach it's destination of Cat Lake after leaving Sioux Lookout Friday night. Ground trackers on land and water under the direction of the Nishnawbe Aski Police and OPP are also involved in the huge search for the aircraft and 3 onboard. Derrick Flynn, President of Lockhart Air says the search continued overnight and thanks the coordinators, search teams, local airlines and volunteers for their assistance and continued efforts to find the plane and its occupants.

Re: Lockhart Air aircraft missing enroute from YXL to YAC
Anyone know if the aircraft had a 406 ELT ?
Re: Lockhart Air aircraft missing enroute from YXL to YAC
I heard there are 2 hercs, 1 piper, 1 chooper looking for the plane. Hope they find them soon
Re: Lockhart Air aircraft missing enroute from YXL to YAC
As of dark tonight the plane has not been found. 2 Hercs, 1 Griffin, 1 Caravan, 1 Turbo Otter, 1 A-Star and another aircraft that I can't think of have been out searching for the last couple of days with no luck yet. There was 1 pilot and 2 passengers onboard the aircraft. There have been many rumors and speculations about what happened to the aircraft but NOTHING has been proven and the aircraft hasn't been located. Maybe tomorrow.
Re: Lockhart Air aircraft missing enroute from YXL to YAC
A localized elt signal has been picked up. Chopper full of fuel standing by in yxl for medevacs.
Re: Lockhart Air aircraft missing enroute from YXL to YAC
No 406 ELT on board.
Re: Lockhart Air aircraft missing enroute from YXL to YAC
If it is true that local media hasn't reported on this it is too bad. The more aviators and others that can keep their eyes open the better. Which brings to mind a question: Does flight services relay missing aircraft notice (MANOT) messages to everyone that calls for a briefing/flight plan filing along search routes?

If they don't they definitely should! It couldn't hurt. I'm sure all of the local companies are doing their best to help out and make the search AND rescue successful.RVgrin wrote:Which brings to mind a question: Does flight services relay missing aircraft notice (MANOT) messages to everyone that calls for a briefing/flight plan filing along search routes?
Hopefully everyone makes it out of this alright.
