Really can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not... but if you're trying to compare Ghandi to George Bush and coming out with the latter being the greater, you are incredibly wrong.
Not that I want to turn this into a discussion regarding Ghandi, but nowhere will you read a credible source that says he beat his wife daily. He admitted that he had beat "his young wife" in his autobiography, but this was before he changed his life and developed his popular philosophy.
A quick excerpt from Wikipedia on "Ghandism"
Mohandas Gandhi's early life was a series of personal struggles to decipher the truth about life's important issues and discover the true way of living. He admitted in his autobiography to beating his young wife, and indulging in carnal pleasures out of lust, jealousy and possessiveness, not genuine love. He had eaten meat, smoked a cigarette, and almost visited a prostitute. It was only after much personal turmoil and repeated failures that Gandhi developed his philosophy.
Also, the washing of one's feet is a common practice in that part of the world, especially at the time. Jesus had his feet washed often, it's not really something you should judge a man's character on. Not even sure if that picture you posted is of his wife.
Regardless, none of that has anything to do with their policies or ideals. It does not make the philosophy of using war to solve a problem versus diplomatic means stronger or weaker.
The costs of "not bowing down to Kings and murderous dictator Sheiks" can be measured in the tremendous human casualties both for NATO troops, American troops, Iraqi and Afghan civilians. You can also measure it in the economic recession the world is experiencing as the US spends billions upon billions of dollars occupying a foreign country that still never solved the problem of terrorism or was it weapons of mass destruction? Hmmm, can't remember what it was Bush said....
War didn't get rid of National-Socialism, it got rid of Nazi dictatorship. It also did not rid the world of communism as there are many people in this world still living under communist governments, unless we're ignoring the most populous country in the world. War isn't preventing Islam from enslaving anyone. It is still the fastest growing religion in the world, with or without occupation and constant war in Iraq/Afghanistan. The best weapon against any religion, good or bad, is probably secular education, IMO.
But yeah, "give war a chance." Let's use Remembrance Day as a day to remember not the atrocities and tremendous loss of life, but to remember that war seems to work out well and we should always remember to give it a chance. Awesome advice, awesome posts wabano. See you on the front lines!
