How Should I Protest?
I got 2 tickets already. 1 for parking on the street and one for parking over the side walk.
My fiance got one for also parking over the sidewalk.
In this shithole of a city it is against the bylaw to park on the side of the road from Nov 1 - May 1st ish.
Even though there is no snow yet I have to keep it clear to let the snow plows through.
Fine, I learned my lesson, there is no more room, so one car has to be parked on the boulevard.
Well lo and behold this morning at 0124 I got a ticket for parking on the boulevard.
According to Barrie City By-law 80-138 4(1)(b) it is against the law to park on a boulevard.
I am so fucking sick and tired of the god damn nazis that run this fucking city.
I have to clear YOUR fucking sidewalk but get a ticket for parking on it. WE own the fucking boulevard but get a ticket for parking on it.
This is the last fucking straw. I have no room to park elsewhere, and apparently everything around me is made of fucking lava and theirfor cant touch it.
Oh yea, it's also barrie city bylaw now that you can't smoke on city property. So now you cant even step outside of the bar or restaurant to smoke.
With all our rights being revoked how long until they take me off to the fucking concentration camp?
So apparantly I become the bad guy if I burn down city hall so that is out, and the cop is just doing their job. Its a company vehicle so they are the ones to get hassled if I do not pay. But I cannot take this lying down. I can not stand by and watch this happen.
God dammit, this pisses me off so bad. What can I do to fight or protest this? I was thinking on seeing how many people I can get on facebook or whatever who are also pissed and protest at city hall.
That is all I got, my last idea wouldnt work as you can't take an upperdecker shit when there is no toilet tank.

Ouch, sorry about your luck (seriously, not being sarcastic).
In most municipalities, if you don't have enough parking, you can get a permit to park on the street that exempts you from the seasonal 'snow plow clearance' thing. May be worth asking the question at city hall.

Stop voting for the NDP, Liberals and PCs. That's a start. There will be a trickle down effect into municipal politics so that politicians will start to listen to the people.
OK, I can dream. In reality, they will keep taking away our rights. Don't worry about going to the camp, niss. Half of Avcanada will be in there for thought-crime. We'll keep you company.

Niss,
Time to dust off your mo-ped. Lots or room to park then.

Move the old appliances off the front lawn and park there? Sell one car and take the bus/bike/moped? Park in the back alley? Designate your house a Synagogue, and claim religious discrimination? Switch teams, build a Minaret, and scream racism? Squeeze two cars into the driveway, and put up with the early morning car ballet?
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Re: How Should I Protest?
Garage is full but being cleaned out, we have a 3 spot drive way and 4 cars in a household.
How can they justify making parking on the boulevard illegal? Red arrow is my house, yellow arrow points to where this hardened criminal parked.
All my tickets are from the same cop. Apparently he lives down the street and just stops by on his way home from his shift @ 2am to give us a ticket(s).
This city fucking sucks.
What could justify this?

You can get permission to park on the boulevard
4(7) Boulevard Parking
Parking may be permitted upon a boulevard providing a resolution is passed by the Council of the
Corporation of the City of Barrie permitting such parking
Re: How Should I Protest?
You should consider yourself lucky that they actually plow your street. In Calgary you could park there all you want because they would never plow it.

I talk to them, find out their information, address, list of fears, then I kidnap their children and send them back to them one finger at a time?

Niss for the smoking thing, declare yourself gay, say you have to smoke for medical reasons and demand they build you a smoking shelter. Problem solved.

The smoking thing isn't an issue as I do not smoke, but I do not appreciate peoples rights constantly being scratched away.Siddley Hawker wrote:Do like I do, just call them alderthings.Have you talked to your alderman/woman?

NIss...get the future wife to clean the crap out of the garage. This is good training. Also good info to have for the future. Will she properly respect "man space". Does she partake of the feminine "three C's" This is a fine opportunity to she if she is truley worthy.

Park on your lawn in an attempt to, "white trasherize" your neighborhood.

Re: How Should I Protest?
Did they change the law since you moved there? If not, why did you move there? Kind of like moving in at the end of a runway and complaining about the noise!
Oh, and it ain't your right to pollute my air by smoking. Do what you like in your own space but leave mine alone.
There, now I feel better.
Flame on!

I say park on the street, blocking the cops driveway. Pass the hat here on Avcanada to pay for the ticket. Bring STL in with his helicopter and camera equipment to shoot the ensuing rage.

Everyone here who has checked their local By-Laws concerning parking on the boulevard before deciding where to live put up their hand.ktcanuck wrote:Did they change the law since you moved there? And smoking outside does not necessarily pollute your air. The ban covers the whole city, no parks, streets, sidewalks, alleys, parking lots, anywhere.
I don't smoke and I think most none smokers are way too whiny of bitches.
There is just as little common courtesy on the non smokers part as there is on the smokers parts.
People always complain that smokers ignorantly blow smoke at them, etc. Then asked why don't they walk around the smoker or walk away they respond with why the hell should I have to move? Well why the hell should they have to stop smoking around you.
But that is not the argument here.
Maybe it is in part.
This thread was really about the nazi-esque bylaws in place in this shit hole of a city.
Our mayor owns two of the nightclubs here in the downtown. Conflict of interest anyone?
Guess what, to help the small business downtown they are doing no pay parking from Dec 1 - 25.
But so help you fucking God if you park on the boulevard.

Re: How Should I Protest?
No prob. I currently work in property management, and have to deal with street parking a lot (say whenever work is being done to a parking lot). Yes, municipal parking enforcement types can be real pricks to deal with ... but there is usually some solution to be had. I've always had most luck calling the City Clerk's office. Explain your problem and they'll put you in touch with the right person. Here in Niagara Falls, I know we can get a 'street parking permit' that exempts us from the plow clearance thing.
The only problem I can see if you are able to arrange for boulevard parking, is once plowing does start, your car will end up under a snow bank.
Good luck fighting City Hall!
