2 dead in Saguenay plane crash
Last Updated: Thursday, December 10, 2009 | 7:35 AM ET Comments1Recommend3CBC News
Two people are reported dead after a plane carrying four people crashed near Saint-Honoré in the Saguenay region.

Police at the scene of the crash had initially said three people had died, but a spokesperson later amended the statement.

Quebec provincial police received a distress call just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

The plane went down in a wooded area, so rescuers had to be parachuted to the area to help out.

The Armed Forces assisted in the rescue.

Police have yet to determine where the plane came from or where it was going.

The condition of the other occupants of the plane was not immediately available.

Police said Thursday morning that two occupants were airlifted out and taken to hospital. The two other occupants were stuck in the plane, and rescuers were trying to get them out of the wreckage and bring them out of the bush using snowmobiles.

SO 2 deaths instead of 3? Stupid media, don't report at all if you don't have accurate numbers, especially for something like this. PIREPS for CYQB yesterday show MDT to severe turbulence and icing low level. It was very windy yesterday in that region, I know CYQB is far away but the system was headed that way and with the time of the crash it seems pretty likely wx could of been a huge factor here. Anyways no speculation always sad to see people you work with everyday go away like this. RIP.

Since my french is not particularly strong, anyone able to provide a translation for the Exact Air owners comments?

Donald: To sum it up in a few words, He said: Usually everything is fine, but sometimes you make small mistakes and one lead to another. That`s why there are 2 pilots aboard. When you fly alone you sometimes take some small risks but you should be more careful when you carry passengers.

Blaming it on the pilots before knowing what actually happened.....

Why....Why.....WHY would you be any more "careful" when you carry passengers???
Is YOUR ass worth less than a passenger's ass??
"Usually everything is fine....."
Either that's a poor translation....or this guy is a moron. There, I used the "M" word again.
Flame away!
This accident thing has got to stop.....be careful out there....with or without passengers on board! Doc's orders!

My thoughts are with the families and friends.

Friends and family who are scared to fly often ask me if I can tell them anything that will help them relax.

I don't get into specifics. I usually tell them they're safe by default. The crew wants to continue on with their lives after work just as much as anyone else does in the back. It doesn't matter if it's a full or ferry flight, they'll fly safe on account of the fact that it's their bacon on the line.

Thoughts are with the pilots and their families.

I just watched that video clip.

Disgusting.

Normally it's the media that jumps to conclusions. In this case they have to reiterate at the end of the clip that the cause isn't known (despite the boss' incarceration of the crew).

Utterly disgusting. What a coward.

I was just surprised to see Benoit on tv actually, he's usually found under a rock somewhere, what a piece of work that guy is, no compassion whatsoever

I can't believe the reaction of the ExactAir owner. Basically he says right away to the TVA reporter that it was very probably the pilots who did mistakes. As other pointed also, he said that with passenger you have to be more careful, but in that case, it seems they did mistakes anyway.

This guy is lame
