ATC Qualifications and Admissions

Post by Stander »

I have a question regarding potential candidates for the ATC program.

Can some light be shed on how many candidates will go through the program for 2010?
More importantly, will those who were asked to take the tests with SLH be considered to come in for written assessment under the new management of NavCanada? I know some candidates that have been waiting for that email\letter to come in - for the aptitude test, but have been 'waiting in vain'. Are there criteria that can be known to us, or at least myself, as to whom may qualify, who will lay waiting, and those that won't make the cut??

The fact of one being told that upon passing the on-line test, one may not be called in to complete the aptitude test is much disheartening, especially if one has done their best to complete all the steps that have been required of them. What more can one do, beside "kneel and pray"?

Stander,

Regarding the SHL questions, I suggest the facebook group for Nav Canada. You can find a link to it on the Take Charge web site. The NC staff are pretty good at answering all of those types of questions.

As for the waiting for invites to assessment sessions, I am right there with ya :? . The way I understand it is that there is a pool of candidates for every step of the way. For example, everyone who passed the online tests are in a pool. When NC decides they need to train more people for a certain area, they draw on the highest candidate scores from that area's pool and invite them to an assessment session. After that, interviews are given based on highest scores from the highest scores of those who passed the assessment. And so on and so on.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck!

I passed the online tests back in October '09, and have been passed by on the last two assessment dates so far here in YVR. Is there still some glimmer of hope or should I just expect more of the same?
