B1900 SOP's

Post by rigpiggy »

I just watched a Wasaya training video posted on youtube, two questions at 80 knots do you always transfer throttle to the PIC, as opposed to at V1, #2 does not beech put the stall recovery as max power, flaps 17, positive rate gear up?

re: #1 - that was my point in the CMA thread re: V1. Stupid SOP. And more than one operator does it that way.

Companies are full of crappy SOP's. Usually, dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. One of my favorites at Wasaya was headsets on for engine starts. On a freighter? But there are many more. Most companies have at least one or two really stupid SOP's. Flaps up on impact?

Sorry you feel that way. Hope you're very happy there. You've given them how much money for your training? Enjoy the indefinite wage freeze, and all your requested vacations.....etc. :smt040 :smt040

I believe the video was called "inside the box - beech 1900 simulator training (have seen it before myself). It has now been removed, I wonder if because of this thread.

Transferring of the throttle is company SOP determined, I believe. Otherwise, PF initiates an increase in power until the autofeather is armed, then hovers his hand over the throttles (in case of the necessity to reject) as PNF sets take-off power. Depending on the company, transfer of the throttle back to the PF is usually done (as far as I know) after the climb power has been set.

As for stall, the recovery depends on the condition. IE in clean config, you don't call for flaps 17 (or take off if it's a C model). Rather, you confirm they are up. In the take-off or landing config, the call "flaps 17" is appropriate.

In the video at 80 kts, throttles were given to the PIC/PNF. During the stall recovery, when they selected gear up, you could hear the gear warning horn go off as the flaps had not been brought to 17, and only brought up past 120 knots. What does the Beech book say?

The book says nothing. It is a single pilot airplane in the states and if you operate it 2 crew it is not going to spell out how your SOP should be written. All it will tell you is the profile.

The manufacture is not gonna give a hoot who is doing the power.
