Bush pilot of 50 hours.

Post by Stian »

Hello Everyone,

I'm a low timer, I have 400 hours with 170h on 705. I would like try the bush pilot and make my 50 hours on flaot.

I know it is very hard to say how the next season will be. But I would like going on flaot the next season.
Can you tell me if is it a good idear? Do you think it's possible to fly directly with 50 hours? :?

I find also someone who he is ready to rent me had a good price a C-182 on float, and he come with me for 0$, and I log all on PIC. How that look on the reseme?!

I try to prepare my next season and I have hard time to make a dessision.

Thank you and happy new year!! with lot and lot hours, first for all low timer and all people like pass long time in the air....

Stian.. Its apparent that english is your second language and that will be your first barrier to overcome. Id suggest hiring someone to do your resume for you. It will just look more professional to a prospective employer. You can do it yourself if you wish and try www.freetranslation.com and that will be a big asset to you.

As far as getting a job in the bush with 400 hours?.. Yes it is possible. You may well end up on the dock for a season.. but it would give you the experience you need to jump on a C185 at the end of the season or beginning of the next. Its not quite a "pilots market" yet and jobs arent quite as plentiful as they were a couple years ago. I got my 1st float job with 5 hours on floats. It IS possible, but count on a season on the dock as times just arent the same as they were when I started.

Finally.. I couldnt understand if you are asking about what it "would" look like IF you rented a C182?.. or that you want to rent a C182 and wonder how it would look on your resume? Float time is float time and experience is experience. If thats your path you choose to gain float hours and you have the $$$ to do it.. Be my guest. Im not sure *I* would look at it favourably if I was the one looking at your resume...but thats just me. I prefer to see guys/gals go out and earn it. I have never even paid to rent an aircraft for a pleasure flight since I obtained my CPL. I just felt that once I achieved my CPL, I deserved to be paid for my time up front.

Best of luck to you in your future decisions.

Fly Safe.

I did 50 hours of float time. I really didn't want to spend any more money either but I figured I needed to do something to make me stand out a bit more than every other 200hr pilot with a basic 7hr seaplane rating. It definitely helped me, I got that elusive first job last spring and I have a secure position waiting for me this coming season.

However, what works for one person may not work for someone else. If I had an AME ticket or if I had something else that made me more marketable to a bush operator I might not have spent the extra money to build another 43hrs of float experience.

Your welcome Stian. Here is a link to the JP fleet manual. It lists ALL companies in Canada (Worldwide) including float ops. If you have this manual, you`ll have the latest contact information for ALL ops.

Best of luck in your search!
