XPO Airlines
Well how funny and sad is this.
Driving down Fasken drive the other day, heading home from work. I stopped in the old Zoom office parking lot, to finally see what the little printed paper XPO signs said that were taped on the front doors. And maybe see if that mouse of a chief pilot of Zoom was still slithering around in there (couldn't resist). All they said were "Home of XPO Airlines". It was the extra piece of paper taped to the door explaining how the tenant is now evicted and the locks have been changed and anyone entering the premises or removing anything from the property will be charged. It also went on to explain that the outstanding unpaid rent was 23,000 dollars.
I had a little laugh... At them and myself for being in this industry.

Re: XPO Airlines
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all FORMER Zoom Employees for their time at Zoom as well as beginning an new venture at XPO. Some of you may remember me, I know I remember you. I worked in Ottawa and was quite proud of what Zoom was! I had every intent of joining on with XPO and assist with helping them off the ground! To all those crew flight crews who got screwed over I wish you nothing but the best! This is a true shame that XPO will never fly. I know that my words mean nothing especially when your waiting for your cash. But you all truly are the Blue (Zoom) Angels. You had some of the most professional and courteous and friendly staff ever. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST in your future endevours. I can say with out a doubt you are all true friends. God Speed. And to the individual who thought that was funny reading that sign on Fasken Drive, I truly hope you get your just rewards, for wishing bad karma on these individuals who pour nothing but their heart and soul into new Canadaian Prospects.
Re: XPO Airlines
This is most disappointing. The former Zoom folks deserve better than this. My thoughts are with you!

Re: XPO Airlines
Too bad to the Zoom employees, at least some have had success finding other jobs, but some guys just like kicking the crap out of others just to compensate for their own shortcomings. Gonna start a company? PAY THE FRIGGING BILLS!!

Drink and post? Also removed from pprune...Post removed upon request.
You can interpret that however you would like.
Re: XPO Airlines
No. Post, then threatened with action. At least the information is out there now. Enough said.

Dear Pika,
Thanks you so much for your comment - FYI if you are buying I am in.
I would treat, but these days money is not flying around. No pun intended!

Thanks for checking in chaze. I'm surprised this thread has gone on as long as it has without somebody bringing up the obvious. When the paycheques stop and the promises start it's time to ask if your bank/landlord will accept a promise in lieu of a mortgage/rent payment. Avcanada is great for jumping all over guys that pay for PPC's or work for free to get into the industry. What's the difference when you are "established" and buy a 777 type or work for free as an "experienced professional"?
I'm sorry you got burned but I'm sure there were more than a few clues as to what was coming your way.

Re: XPO Airlines
I'm sorry but reading that sign on the door was funny. How many times do you need to be hung high and dry before learning? It's not fricken rocket science folks.
What is with this profession? Work for free (or on a promise), work for peanuts, actually pay to work, work ridiculously long unsafe hours, I could go on and on. One needs to eventually laugh at this industry and ourselves. Spineless usually is my word of choice when describing this group of professionals but so many more come to mind. Who else lets an industry treat each other the way we do? Or better yet, what other industry treats each other the way we do! It's like hanging out on a play ground in seventh grade with all the stupid little clicks. As a group it appears we're more interested in our ego's and our status symbol then actually safe, decent, secure working conditions. Ahhh yes I know we're all trying to provide for our families, but come on people this is beyond nutts.
Sorry for the insults but it's at the group of us, no one in-particular.
So you were threatened with action for your comments on a public anonymous forum? What did they threaten you with, sticks and stones? F*- they didn't pay you and they can't pay their rent! These people have used you. For what, I have no idea? But they threaten you, and you still take it? Christ! I'm about to use that "S" word again. No sympathy from me.
Your right karma is a bitch, and I hope the Zoom Military management click that shot over to the island were involved in this. What's next, Zoom or XPO threatening me with action?

Dear Pika,
I am truly sorry you are not working (I am in the same boat). Sometimes this industry is not always as glamorous as we believe in our hearts. Maybe one day we will both be in a better place; and yes I would buy you a drink.
I will be truthful there were signs, but by that time; I was already out of a full time paying job with benefits and nowhere to go. Being the individual that I am, had I known at the beginning that there were no funds - I don't think (I know) I would have never left the job I was in. Unfortunately, I was never privy to the actual financial status of the company.
Saying that, we all live and learn and I am glad I have now been subjected to individuals who should not be living on a dream, especially when it involves people’s livelihood.
I must say I did learn a very good lesson - I will live only on my dreams and never at the hands of someone else’s. I know I rest well at night.
I truly hope that these kinds of acts do not happen to anyone, as they are extremely unpleasant. To tell you all the details would take weeks and I have already exhausted enough of my energy on this whole ordeal. I am looking forward to putting this all behind me and dealing with what really matters in life.
Wishing you all the best Pika - something good will come your way.

Re: XPO Airlines
Dilbert I think you have summarized aviation in general quite well. It's the industry; it is what it is. - edit - IS (not are) - edit - paying for PPC's and working for free killing the industry? I don't know. More likely just a part of it.

Re: XPO Airlines
Funny how a company that can't afford their rent can suddenly afford lawyers to threaten everyone on the internet.... they might want to re-visit their priorities, it would certainly explain why they are broke

Re: XPO Airlines
The posts were made simply to get the word out so no one else gets scammed!!!!! Stop trying to make it about anything else. Unlike some, I have a heart and integrity and it's important to me that no one else has to go through what we went through. I wish all the people who had experiences with this person had come forward over the years so that everyone who came along after didn't end up going through the same thing. They weren't brave enough but I sure as f*** am!!
As for us being suckers or whatever else you want to call it, how about you form your opinion when you have ALL the FACTS, not just what you THINK you know or have speculated. You don't know the half of it and your speculation couldn't come close to the truth. So if you're man enough, feel free to contact me personally so I can share it with you. Then you can be confident enough to speak with authority on this subject Edited. Hilarious.
I posted to this forum fully aware that this it is NOT anonymous because it is on the internet and anyone who thinks it is possible to be anonymous on here needs to do their research. The internet is NOT anonymous unless you know how to hide or disguise your I.P. address. Ever hear of hackers? They live for this stuff. I got to see the results of a hacker's skills first hand. Guess what he'd hacked into? Someone's account on an aviation forum JUST like this one. He did it so he could get their name and contact information. It was an eye opening experience.
So yes, it is possible to be threatened and yes, I took it seriously. And yes, even when someone doesn't have money to pay their employees it doesn't mean they don't have money to take legal action. Ever hear or scammers or con artists etc.? They make their livings scamming and coming up with the money when they need it. This situation is no different.
EditedRather than kicking one another when we're down, why not band together? There's a novel idea. Rather than creating cliques and then bullying/shutting people out of companies, why not shut the hell up and do the job you were hired to do. Rather than coming onto a forum and hiding behind a screen name in order to bash/insult former managers or co-workers, have the balls to "show your face". Rather than thinking you are superior in knowledge and intelligence, jump down off your high horse and try living in the real world.
You think you are so smart that something like what happened to us couldn't happen to you? Keep dreaming. Bad things happen to people all the time, whether you are good, bad, beautiful or ugly. When the time comes and it's you needing support or for people to show you kindness, for whatever reason, I hope you find it, despite your bad manners and lack of couth.
I'm not hiding and I'm fully aware of the consequences of my words and actions. Everyone knows who t. is. It was a pilot who gave me the nickname and pilots who still call me by it. Am I offended by your ignorance, attitude and insults? Yes. Have you kicked me and my colleagues when we are down? Hell yes. So let me just say thanks for that. You are a stand up kind of guy. A real gem. It's been a real pleasure.

Re: XPO Airlines
Has anyone ever bothered to check very closely the credentials of the principal person of Zoom/XPO....Check the performance of Titan Air and various now defunct companies (same person)....From what I have been able to ascertain he is very accomplished at what he does best with other peoples money....(Does this leave me open for his threats of legal action??)
Re: XPO Airlines
Hey Pika,
The chinese have been ugently looking for crews overseas. Unfortunately not very good on a family life, the pay looks, and from what evidence shows is VERY good. Airbus experience seems to be the winner.......
Lots of AC guys remaining there and not returning from Leave.
