He was trying to bait Tony Soprano into coming back to Avcanada. (told me in a pm). I think we're both disappointed it didn't work.mbav8r wrote: Why would you call us miserable pricks because of that?

JS,
Good post, I do agree with you and I tend to search out value myself. I haven't been into a Walmart for a while now (I do develop pictures there though). However, if two identical products or services are available, I always go for the lower price. I tend to buy higher quality stuff though.

Re: Air Canada are miserable P--cks!!
My daughter wanted to fly YWG-FCO (via YYZ outbound, and YUL return) summer season departure, and Labour return, last year. Despite wanting to use a pass, I said "don't do it", and she coughed up for a positive seat ticket. The AC seat sale price was about $350 each way, plus fees/taxes, which ended up ~$1000. The price of standby for her, she didn't pay a vast sum more anyway for the seat sale ticket. She booked in early May. This year the travelling climate may be different - who knows?
If you want to lock it in now, it might not be the cheapest. If you can fly for about $1000 from YHZ go for it! f there are lots of people that want to fly at a higher rate, maybe there won't be a seat sale for the summer season, but that would be the first time in many years that haven't had one!!

Jaques Strappe wrote:There is a certain truth to the saying " you get what you pay for " I have never purchased anything from Walmart for that exact reason. It is a shame that our culture has now become so addicted to disposable crap.
For example, I would gladly pay three times the price for a metal snow shovel that will last 15 years, over the plastic crap they sell today which ends up in a landfill by spring. In 15 years, you have saved nothing. It has probably cost you 10 times more but people don't look beyond next Saturday.
The airline customer has become intoxicated with discount carriers who may or may not deliver. Jetsgo is a recent example here in Canada and then you have outfits like Adam Air who consistently hurt or killed people before finally getting shut down.
Knowing the pay and experience levels of American Regional pilots and after reading the transcripts from the Colgan crash in Buffalo, I will not fly on an American regional carrier. I will happily pay full pop to fly on an airline that doesn't skimp. That is becoming increasingly difficult however.
So yes, I do think there is an element of you get what you pay for and when you can fly 400 miles cheaper than you can drive your car there, something is gonna give.
Hey Jaques,
I heartily agree, except that you're painting with a bit of a broad brush with regards to the US Regionals...the company that I used to work for has seen little growth or upgrades in the last 5 years, and a large portion of the seniority list has vast quantities of experience, on the order of 20-30 years at the company!
Cheers,
A former US regional "Scooter trash" pilot

Um, no.mbav8r wrote:Moral of the story, you're the very reason airlines struggle to make a profit. The very reason people lose their jobs, you are in essence what's wrong with the industry. You self entitled prick, why don't you pay what it reasonably cost to fly your ass to rome and maybe I could afford to send my kids to university, so they can have a good paying career and afford to take those nice trips instead of bottom feeding on the internet looking for the cheapest possible price, further driving this industry to the ground. One way hey, hope you're stuck there looking for a cheap flight home, but there are none!!!!!
...Seems they are going to remove the axe and the control column from the cockpits for security reasons.

Redwine, when I wrote the post you quoted I was quite heated and my blood was boiling. This one was after I cooled down and took abit of a pasting. So why don't you enlighten us as to what you think is wrong with the industry other than, "Um no"

Ok, I may have gone a little overboard, but I do get tired of people complaining about airfares when they're lower than they were 10 years ago and again those same people will jump in a taxi and pay 30 dollars to go 20 km. I do shop around and I do go for the best price, but I don't go on a public forum and call futureshop pricks cause I didn't like the price they were charging for a T.V.
