Need Help to Convert Canadian ATP into Indian ATP
Hi all, i am currently looking into working in India. Wuts da best way to convert and which airlines out there are most likey hire an outsider?

unless there is a company that needs your skillset, chances are slim-none. Why India?
Re: Need Help to Convert Canadian ATP into Indian ATP
As rigpiggy said, slim to none. Airlines in India may only look at you if you have some serious command time on a Boeing NG, A320 or E190. And that "may" look at yuo is even more iffy now due to overcapasity in the Indian market.

So the chances of landing a job out there sound very slim as most of my time is PIC to the turbo-prop level. I was thinking India b/c I have close family members out there and I have always wanted to live out there for few years.
Re: Need Help to Convert Canadian ATP into Indian ATP
If your family members are from there and if you are an apne with experience your chances go way up. You will have to convert your ATPL to and Indian ALTP which is very involved if not sponsered by an airline willing to hire you. By involved I mean you may make it by who you know and what type of influence they have on the duty officer who will supervise the transfer. But as of late the recession has severely dampened any hiring whatsoever though. A few years ago if you were a South asian Canadian with over 3000 hours and lots of command turbine time it was not unheard of gaining command on the 737 NG or A320 only after a year on the aircraft.

If you are not an Indian, you cannot get an Indian licence.
Expats flying in India are flying on licence validations, issued by the Indian DGCA. The onus is on them to keep their foreign licence valid (medically and any other requirements). The "best days" are over and many Indian carriers are reducing (kicking out) the amount of expats.
