Regina Flying Club 100%

They only have a PA-30, but the CFI there is top notch and the ME/IFR instructor is a stand up guy as well.

You're already in Winnipeg which is home to one of the top MIFR providers in the country.

Just go to perimeter. You won't find anything better, just different. They should be able to get your MIFR in 4-6 weeks.

There are only a handful of places "I KNOW OF" that specialize in MIFR training. Perimeter, Pro-IFR and Cornwall.

At the end of the day, you will find hundreds or thousands of happy pilots who went through their systems. You will also find a handful who thought the training was shit.

I went to perimeter many moons ago and thought it was very good. They have been doing nothing but MIFR training for many years. That doesn't mean that some people had a bad experience. It does mean that they are doing someting right because it is all they do and if the only thing you do is crap, you're not going to be around for long.

All I am saying is that if you are already in Winnipeg, you would be quite silly to fly to Vancouver and pay boarding to go somewhere else and get very similar training.

Keep in mind alot of places also have some sort of standards. Why don't you go check out perimeter? Or Harv's for that matter? You are in Winnipeg already, and lucky for you there are two good schools which you can choose from...

You are in Winnipeg... Go to Perimeter. NO boarding, no travel expenses etc. I learned a lot there. Cost me $10,000 bang on for ME+IFR

Your cost of training is dependent on your skill. They won't throw you in a plane until your know your shit on the sim. If it costs you $15,000 to get your IFR, you were thrown into the plane too fast, that or, I will need to think twice before flying with you

The reason perimeter costs a bit more it because YOU ACTUALLY learn to fly IFR in a structured lesson format. You're not just flying the same ILS over and over again. Nor do they teach you to just pass the flight test. Going to perimeter will make you a better pilot.. It seems like you are looking to get the piece of paper and run off. This will just make you another one of the thousands of CPL's in Canada with a multi IFR and no idea how to actually fly real world IFR. If you're serious about becoming a airline pilot, you should rethink your thoughts.

Harv's isn't bad but isn't nearly as structured as perimeter. They have a "what do you feel like doing today" sort of attitude. This means you waste more time and money flying around, blowing aimlessly through LOCs and not realizing what a non-standard hold is. They should stick to the circuits and 152's.

You got to know your stuff before you attempt cornwall, plain and simple. This isn't a babysitting course.

I've heard good things about PRO-IFR in YVR.
