Re: Ornge
Anyone else watching this thread that had interviewed with Ornge in early October?? Hear anything yet?
Re: Ornge
I don't know who or what your sources are but I'd like to rectify two things about that sentence.hertford wrote:There is definitely a Bond! I believe it's 2 years as well
1) There is definitely NO bond.
2) When they still had a bond, it was only 1 year.
I would agree with you on that one. Nothing bad to say about the operation or operator. Ornge is setting a precedent that I hope many other operators will follow.but still a cushy job none the less!
Again.. I would suggest you verify your sources before you post. Airplanes do come with BOSE headsets installed - STOCK, like any other PC12NG out in the world. Pilots do not own them, nor do they receive their own pair. So don't worry about your tax dollars...plus everyone supposedly gets a Bose headset, gotta love the never ending tax dollars.
cheers

Sharing headsets? Do the pilots at least get their very own tooth brushes??

Don't worry about my tax dollars?
Granted, most of the posters in this thread had their facts incorrect, but don't worry about my tax dollars?
Dude!
- New Bose Headsets for each Medic
- New Heli Helmets for each Fixed Wing Medic
- The "Uniform Scandal"
- How is your Hydraulic Lift working?
I could go on and on and on...
If the general public even had a sniff of the waste and mismanagement going on at Ornge, the E-Health Scandal would be forgotten in a heartbeat.
Residents of Ontario should DEFINITELY be worried about their tax dollars.
Cheers

I didn't really want to start/continue a debate about taxes and what not. I pay mine and I don't complain... you can always move to Quebec if you want a real reason to scream about taxes...Captain Kangaroo wrote:Granted, most of the posters in this thread had their facts incorrect, but don't worry about my tax dollars?

I just wanted to clarify the misconceptions stated at the top of this page, the rest - I really have no answers to.
in the meantime, have a great one, and see you up there

Anything new on the Fruit Front? I hear they are moving to their own building in 2 weeks: 74,000 sq ft of office space...and to think that the Ontario Government used to run Air Ambulance operations with a staff of 5!!

Reading these comments about Ornge makes me wonder if they were a private enterprise operation how long would they stay in business with the overhead Ornge has 804wonder?No Bond. Get your facts straight before you post. Ornge is a great company with high ambitions and some people are sore they can't get in.
By the way reading your posts I have a question.
What is a radial scan, I never heard of it.LASTLY I DISCUSS THE RADIAL
SCAN FOR STRAIGHT AND LEVEL FLIGHT.

I suspect after all the existing crews have had a shot at it.When is the Toronto position interviews? I can't wait.
Re: Ornge
Hey Doc I thought you knew something about flying!
A radial scan is a necessary part of Beaver flying. Every morning, you slide a plank across the front floats and inspect the engine for possible loose or missing studs, or oil stains around each jug. You also check all the push rods to make sure they leak just enough to lubricate the rudder cables in flight!
Just when you thought you were too old to learn something.

I am always open to learning new things and having never heard of a radial scan I was hoping he could teach me something new.

Re: Ornge
My name is Will O’Neill, and I work in communications at Ornge. An emerging goal for our organization is connecting and conversing with stakeholders online, and participating in message boards (such as AVCanada) is part of that. I’m not going to bump up a bunch of old threads on this board by going through it for every Ornge mention I can find – we’re here to participate in this community, not police it – but this seems like a good place to jump in.AnotherFlyOnTheWall wrote:Anything new on the Fruit Front? Ornge is moving in two weeks – of course, we are doing this because we’ve reached the conclusion that doing so is in the best interests of fulfilling our goal to deliver transport medicine to the people of Ontario. Most of you probably know a bit about Ornge, so I won’t roll out the standard boilerplate on what that means – what I’d prefer to do is answer any specific questions you might have, insofar as I’m able to.
For reasons of third-party confidentiality, company privacy, etc. etc. there may be things that I won’t always be able to respond to, or respond to immediately, but I will do my best to be as transparent and as helpful to all of you as I can. I’m here as a representative of the company, but it is a fairly large one, and I am just one person – I have to weigh what I can do against my responsibilities to all of the other professionals I work with.
Basically, I’m not asking you to never say anything critical of Ornge – I’m just asking that you do it respectfully and constructively. We are proud of the work we do, and we want to talk about it, but it isn’t realistic to expect anyone to acknowledge a communication that is clearly and only intended to degrade us.
If you have a question you’d rather take off the board, it may be best if you contact me directly – you can do so any time at woneill@ornge.ca. You can also reach me on Twitter via @ornge, and I’ll pop up in a Facebook search as well.
So, yes – the Ornge office move. Working at Ornge. The Ornge experience. What would you all like to know?

Ah so, in DC3 speak (since I've never flown a Beaver) it would be like diddling the Doug?Lost Lake wrote:Hey Doc I thought you knew something about flying!

Hi will:
Thanks for asking us to direct any questions we have to you.
I am always interested in comparing how these services are operated.
As I understand it Ornge is government operated or quasi government operated and funded?
I have two questions.
How many employees are there for each aircraft you now operate?
What do you foresee for the number of employees per aircraft operated to be once you reach full planned aircraft capacity?

Re: Ornge
Thanks for posting that PCAS.
I really had not been taught instrument flying using those terms and had no idea I should have used a radial scan when in IMC or total darkness.
I don't recall consciously using a " scan " in those terms as I get my information from the flight instruments by seeing them all as one information group.
In most instrument panels that are arranged in the normal positions in the panel I see them as one group.
I always thought that was why they are so close together.
How long have they been teaching that kind of scan?
