Will you buy Apple's XL sized Ipod?

And if so, why? I've seen all kinds of reactions to this thing, most negative, but some positive. From the positive camp, I'm yet to find anybody that can answer the question.

I just don't understand why somebody would pay 3X the price for a less capable computer? No exchangeable battery. No expandable memory. No Flash. Apple proprietary rights on everything. Nothing resembling an open source agreement. No USB ports.

I'm a Mac guy, but I do have limitations on what I will buy from them. $400 more for a Mac Book seems like a better deal...

Just a big iPod for around the house for now. Give it a few years and a few design changes it will get way better. Dont buy the first year model of electronics as a rule of thumb.

I'm thinking very seriously about a Macbook. I have a Touch. Goes everywhere with me. Can't think of an application that would require more?

This will have many aviation uses can anyone say Charts, Full charts with GPS overlay so you see where you are in ref to the chart, Heck someone will make a panel mount for this unit I am 100% sure of that.

That would actually be a good use for it. If I saw that software and it wasn't as buggy as most iphone apps I'd be all over it.

You could use the .PDF format for the simple charts and approach plates. Its a well tested file type and no need for an extra app. The airport diagrams are available in .PDF

Seems like a bunch of hype for a useless rig. Too big to fit in a pocket, doesn't do anything special that my computer can't do. My iphone is a portable computer, and the Macbook pro is far better than this unit. I like that I can sit my laptop on a desk or table and still see the screen.

I love apple gear but this is not for me. Rather I'm looking at the mac air. It makes much more sense for me anyways.

You can't call the iPhone a laptop, you can't install anything you want without Jailbreaking it. I was seriously disappointed with the iPad. It shouldn't even be call a tablet, since it's just a iTouch XL. I was hoping it run some kind of strip down OSX but it doesn't.

I consider my iPhone a laptop since, mine is jailbroken, I have over 200apps, can surf the web, write essays and excel, listen to music, talk to freinds, check emails, organize dates and much more. Come to think of about it, there isn't much more a laptop can do that an iPhone can't (assuming you use your laptop for everyday activites).

I think the up coming HP Slate may be worth a look. Basically runs on Windows 7 and it could be similar size to the iPad.
