Float planes in middle east
I'm after some info on the float planes operating in the middle east, mainly the C208 that Empire Aviation operate? Requirements, pay etc.

You might want to try Seawings as I don't think EAG is hiring, but I could be wrong. And remember it is coming into the slower season.

Empire operates 2 crew in their 208's.taupodan wrote:I'm after some info on the float planes operating in the middle east, mainly the C208 that Empire Aviation operate? Requirements, pay etc.
They are looking for Comm/Floats for FO and ATPL/Floats for Captain. I would imagine that 3000 total with 1000 floats and some salt water 208 time would also be bare minimums for the left seat.
Pay is $4,000 USD for F/O and $9,5000 USD for Captain. Tax free of course.

Career Pilot Center doesn't list any C-208 for Empire Aviation. Am I looking at the wrong Empire Aviation? Anyone got a link?
Re: Float planes in middle east
I had the same question Sarah. If you get any info on this could ya please pass it on here or in a PM or something. I'd love that job if the wage mentioned is correct. I've still got a lovely Beemer stored there.

Re: Float planes in middle east
I was under the impression that it was more, like almost the combined total of the EAG crew, but that could have been after a year or two.

Re: Float planes in middle east
There is a pay scale that comes into effect for full time guys with 2 years service, 5000 TT and 1000 on type but it's no where near 13K USD per month.Just Duckie wrote:I was under the impression that it was more, like almost the combined total of the EAG crew, but that could have been after a year or two.
The equivilant wage in Canada today would be 160+ K per year, maybe that's what you were thinking...

Re: Float planes in middle east
Hey All,
I am hoping to get some updated information about float flying in the ME.
Just wondering if anyone knows the current requirements, pay and if they still hire Canadians?
Are there any gigs that would be a good fit for a young family or is this better for single pilots? I have traveled extensively but never to the Middle East and don't have any connections there. Anyone with some experience there that would like to share?
I am hoping to get back into floats after a bit of time away in the IFR world and want to try something not based in Northern Canada.
Feel free to PM me or reply here.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Float planes in middle east
EAG stopped operating Caravans in 2011. Look into Seawings.
Re: Float planes in middle east
I am currently operating a Q400 in Abu Dhabi, got about 1000 hrs on floats many moons ago. I occasionally hear a caravan on floats passing thru. Can't help with pay/conditions sorry, but if you have a young (school age) family, don't bother coming for a float gig. Its horrendously expensive here and pharking hot...Might be alright for a single guy for a while, but probably only as a stepping stone.
Re: Float planes in middle east
The floats / bush flying adventure is best before or after the wife and kids jump on board, I enjoyed my adventures, never did the middle east though. From my experience the best over seas flying is always the VFR low level stuff middle east would cool. The pacific was a hoot and probably a lot more opportunity out there, Maldives, Vietnam, Fiji etc.
