CYXU has the katana cafe... never been but heard good things. CYKF has a restaurant there too, not too bad (the breakfast is good). If your looking for a nice, well-maintained airport in SW Ontario, try CNM4 (Stratford). No restaurant but Andy and the crew are some of the nicest, laid back guys you could ever talk to and there's always coffee on. Beautiful little place.

We used to really enjoy going to Katana Kafe. It has gone through a lot of changes over the years, and we haven't been there in several years now. Need to go back soon so I can report back here LOL. Used to love going there for breakfast after working the night shift nearby, and the days prior to the airshow were awesome from the patio.

My info may be a outdated, but there was a German family that served good European food in Collingwood (CNY3). Also the breakfast (and muffins) in Lindsay (CNF4?) were memorable.

Just stay away from the Druxys in other airports!

We've been going to the restaurant at Lindsay for years, good food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Other places with restaurants are Elmhirst Resort (CPS2), Oshawa has a small cafe open on weekdays, Peterborough and Brampton.

The Goderich COPA chapter keeps a list online:
http://www.copa45.com/Restaurants.htm

I have been to pretty much all of the ones on that list. Favourites would be Muskoka and Killarney. The restaurant in Wingham on the list I understand has recently closed.

There is also a restaurant about 1-2 miles east of Centralia along the highway that you can access by landing instead on a grass strip that runs north/south just to the north of the restaurant. Farmer who owns it doesn't mind people coming in to visit the restaraunt.

Guelph also has a cafe with decent food.

You have to to to killarney (only open during the summer). The fish and chips are amazing and the owner of the place will come and pick you up from the airport and give you a lift into town if you call him (as well as have your food ready so you can avoid the crazy line). Centralia restaurant is also decent.

St. Thomas
About 2 miles east of St. Thomas airport on Highway #3, is the "New Sarum Diner" which is a family owned diner and has wonderful food. Very popular place with the locals. St. Thomas Airport usually has a courtesy van available, or will drop you off there.

Follow up re Guelph: I spoke with the lady that operates (and owns me thinks) the cafe on site, and they are OPEN year round. I have had breakfast there with my son and we loved it! Also the weekend dispatch is a top notch guy.
Cheers.

PS the flight was amazing today, you could see all the way to Kentucky.

Take advantage of the ride...I've done the walk from the airport, not long but all kinds of bugs.

Wiarton isn't too bad either. You can take a courtasy car into town. There is a good fish and chip place on the harbour

Good fish and chips in Killarney. Fresh off the boat that morning.

Katana Kafe:

Just had a Portobella mushroom and steak panini with Spicy Tortilla Soup for lunch.

Everything's great but I recommend the fish and chips, best i've ever had and I was in Nova Scotia for the summer!

Just a question for the Katana Cafe, where do you park? I flew to CYXU for my solo cross country this summer and parked on Apron 3 in front of the Esso Aviat there across from the Cafe but as soon as I got the logbook stamped was ushered out in short order to make way for a Citation - obviously wasn't in the right spot there lol.

I park right in front line just west of the katana cafe. It is a restaurant that has redefined airport food.
I fly to toronto island and walk uptown to queen west a few times a year. it has lots avail.

I had my honeymoon at Elmhirst back in 1976. It was off season and being a member of COPA saved my almost half the regualr fare. The food was incredible. Got to fly their C-185 too.

They used to have good grub at Peterborough airport.

Best airport restaurant in Canada (at least to me) is at the Courtney Air Park

Cheers...Chris

Courtney would be a fun flight but a bit out of my budget right now

I noticed Elmhirst is PPR, do they generally keep it to resort guests only?
