.........and a whole lot of people need to read historical fact. America wasn't the only country who had M.A.S.H. Units in Korea. They were ably assisted by Canadian Army Forces and it was the Canadian Army who got the first Presidential Unit Citation of that war and the RCN more than ably assisted General MacArthur at Inchon and were 'in to it' right up to their eyeballs. But 'shhhhhhhhh'.......don't let too many Canadians know that  .

Tell the Aussies that the Yanks were the only ones that fought in Korea and you'll find out real quick that the Aussie's tolerance for bullshit concerning this subject is far less than his Camadian peer.

IF you happen to be American, then it's too bad that you failed American History in High School. If you learned what you stated from some University Professor perhaps, then you need to smash said professor squarely in the mouth next chance you get because you got cheated buddy.

LOL,

That post was made Tongue in cheek. I try not to get my facts from a semi-fictional 70's Drama/Comedy!

I am well aware of the international involvement during Korea, and many other wars.

My comments were made in regard to typical average-American ignorance on such matters.

Par example:

You limeys would all be speaking german if it werent for us in WW2.....Yawn....

USA Be praised! Heroes of the world they are! :prayer: :prayer:

Due note was tken of the possibility of 'tongue in cheek', but to many others their historical knowledge of the same things and other wars comes from the screen of their TV and Hollywood.

I won't argue about American ignorance about certain historical facts. Based on the Canadian populace's same knowledge about their own history in that regard and time-frame, I ain't going to be pointing any fingers at the US of A anytime soon. I do take great pleasure in stating that because I'm a dual-citizen of both countries and have spent a lifetime exposing all manner of bullshit exported from north of the 49th going southbound and visa versa..........and boy can both countries 'lay it on' when they want to do so. Americans definitely have no monopoly on slinging bullshit and that's just another area where Canada can stand with the very best. I basically find it all very funny, expose it when able and keep on shaking my head because that old saying about "if you don't know your past, then you'll repeat the same mistakes all over again" really makes me nervous.

Based on historical fact of that time and released records since then, Great Britain would have indeed failed if it weren't for FDR, BEFORE Pearl Harbour and the Federal Treasury afterwards. So, in effect, that statement is not incorrect based on historical fact of that time and released records since then. What the problem is with that escapes me, but it's a 'hang-up' for some. Amongst my parents and their friends of that time, it was fully known and they thanked God that it was so because Great Britain couldn't do it financially and Canada wasn't yet prepared militarily to help her. Nobody was embarassed about it that I ever heard about. American relatives of mine have never brought it up, but every nation has 'mental midgets' who get diarrhea of the mouth every so often and demonstrate to all how ignorant they are. We were all Allies fighting the Axis nations and to care who took or gave any sort of assistance to/from some others is truly 'small-minded' and immature at the least.

People also have a tendency to base America's entry into WW2 based on Pearl Harbour and Dec. 7, 1941. That's 'officially' correct. 'Unofficially' it's entirely another matter. Long before that date, America was supplying naval ships, a/c of all sizes and descriptions, Instructors for the BCATP and gargantuan amounts of other military supplies to both Canada and Greaat Britain.. I have many photos taken in '40/early '41 of my grandparents and many. many other folks from southern Manitoba, pushing American a/c of many types across the 49th at Emmerson, MB. This 'pushing' was done because those a/c could not be flown across the 49th. That was because America was still considered a neutal country and to have done otherwise would have been considered an 'Act of War' against Germany for one. FDR was doing all this without getting the approval of Congress and to honour his private agreement with Churchill. Also, to have it found out was grounds for Impeachment proceedings against him by Congress and those who didn't agree with his actions therein.

The records now show that Great Britain was financially bankrupt in late '40 and that ALL monies she spent afterwards and into the late '40's were courtesy of the American Treasury and it wasn't all monies either. War supplies were signed-over, air bases signed over to the US for during and after the war ended and a host of other agreements. Those debts weren't paid-off until approximaately June/July of '07 when Great Britain made her last payment. By the same token, Great Britain was the ONLY WW2 ally who ever did so. NOT ONE mainland European Ally ever repaid the US for anything, including France and Germany.

"The USA Heroes of the world". Well, I don't know how old you are sir, but during the years I was growing-up in Canada it wasn't the Gawdawful fear of Canada that kept the Soviet Union from coming over the Pole and taking what she wanted. The estimate at that time by the Canadian CDS was that Canada would have lasted approximately 4 hours an then she'd have been suing for peace. Since America didn't want the Soviets to be anymore neighbours than they already were, they got something out of it too. That made everyone happy and helped the Americans finance Canad's NationalHealth Plan indirectly. That's because we didn't have the monies to defend ourselves AND have that health care system all at the same time. That doesn't bother or embarass me either.

Nark--------- 'Accolades'? Does that include similar accolades for courtesies and landing airfields made available to American airlines and their passengers during the early hours of 9/11? Don't answer that. It ain't the first time each nation has 'scratched' the other's back.......and it sure as Hell won't be the last. :D Stay well.

niss --------- thank-you, but I ain't part of some 'inner sanctum' of knowledge. It's all there for anybody to find out easily if they care to know and have the mental ability to walk and chew gum at the same time.

I can rub my tummy and pat my head at the same time? Is this sufficient ability? Apparently it's enough to be a pilot.
