No rumor.

I have no idea how you @#$! this up, but Swissport was pumping fuel into the lav system instead of water. When the problem was found we grounded any aircraft that were involved.

Yea that's what I heard.

I can't wrap my head around this, that would be virtually impossible to happen by accident, from my ramp days I've serviced many a 737NG lavatory (shitty job... ha!)

Anyway, the way the system works, the lav cart itself would have to be filled with Jet-A first, unless some knucklehead actually pumped Jet-A into the Lavatory cart it couldn't happen, at least not without making a mess... not impossible in either case, some dumbass could have pumped Jet-A into a Lav cart by accident, but I fail to see how someone who can walk upright could do such a thing.

I suppose if some newbie was told by another rampie "Hey fill up the Lav truck with fuel"

Most ground diesel vehicles use Jet-A, maybe he just didn't know any better and put it in the water tank instead of the fuel tank... not totally unbeliveable I guess.

The other rumour I heard was that it was deliberate, I can't imagine the cleanup of that, how do you purge Jet-A from Lav lines, would involve a helluva lot of flushing the system out.

I would imagine if it was deliberate, the culprits would be facing some serious criminal charges...

I would love to hear how they did that, if true. Pretty hard to believe!

If it's true this was all deliberate, they need to throw the book at this guy.

The level of danger here is just unbelievable.

In my opinion they should charge him with whatever a terrorist would get charged for attempting to blow up an airplane

Listen kid there are lots of gigs out there that are just as good as WestJet. Don't get picky early in your career...you'll wind up wasting time and missing out on some good opportunities. WestJet is more apt to hire experience guys with jet experience, so get out there and get some, and after you get your licence your still hell bent on WJ you have a much better shot at a job there.

It truly is unfathomable how this happened, but from what I’ve been told no actual fuel entered the aircraft. The fuel that was added to the lav truck sat on top of the lav fluid (i.e. oil/water) and the lav fluid that was pumped into the planes came from well below where the fuel was sitting. Still thoroughly unbelievable and could have been much worse than it ended up being.

Well if you think that is the only way you can get jet experience....the middle east is probably a good place for you.

Sounds like another security loop hole to me. Can you imagine that ship gets airborne and one of his ala ackbar buddies goes and drops a match in the lav? Times that by 10 aircraft and its another 9/11.

If I was a betting man I would say the next terrorist plot is going to be courtesy our ground workers or CATSA bypass workers... Its just that easy.

I was going to say something, but I just get annoyed. I'll leave it at this: Airport security is a joke. You don't need to mix fuel and lav juice to have a diabolical plot, but marks for creativity.

I'm starting to get real tired of people stereotyping Arabs as terrorists all the time. Grow up, and no, I'm not Arab.

I'm starting to get real tired of terrorists ruining everyday life. Grow up, and no, I'm not a terrorist.

If you look at the last 15 years.. the predominant acts of terrorism in the Western world or against the West, they are Arab...

I hate to be technical, but you have to read the fine print:

Oklahoma City Bombing happened April 19th, 1995. Hence, more than 15 years.

I figured someone would bring up McVeigh, which is always why I added the word 'predominately.' Sure Arabs aren't going to be the end all-be all of terrorists, but there is certainly a trend going with recent attempts...

I (not WJ) had an incident once on the 737 when a disgruntled guy filled the potable water with what he had just drained from the lav waste.......good thing I had had a coffee in the terminal that day
