Nuke Power Plant Proposed for Saskatchewan

Post by The Old Fogducker »

Saskatchewan may be getting a nuclear power station before too long, if the Environmental Nazis aren't able to spread panic in the streets.

Here is a superb video debate on the subject featuring Dan Ackroyd, and Jane Curtain from an episode of Saturday Night Live, which is now almost 30 years old.

The more things change, the more they remain the same!

Enjoy, before it is removed for copyright infringement.

There has yet to be an industry related fatality...
Pre-Chernobyl...

Though it was a poor reactor design and nitwits operating it in that case...

It's a good idea-I read an engineering study about this idea once.
It's a big long pdf, I'll see if I can find it.

Since Northern Saskatchewan has the worlds largest high-grade uranium deposits, and Northern Alberta has 200 billion barrels ( recoverable ) of oil sands, nuclear power plants to cook it out -instead of burning natural gas -are worth looking at.

Alberta has 70 % of Canadas' coal , so that industry might try to obstruct nuclear reactors , though.

I think the only way wind would work-since you can't base load wind power-is if they made hydrogen with windmills. Still too pricey, but do-able.

Jake .... you ignorant slut!

You left out the part the environmental mental cases need to make their alternative energy industry plan work ... consistent $10 a gallon gas prices. That economic development stopping price will be due to govt surtaxes imposed to prop up otherwise nonviable technologies, not due to market forces of supply and demand.

I also read Saskatchewan was considering tidal power since it is more consistent then wind power :)

Indeed this is potentially very good news for Sask.

Loved the video OFD, I remember watching it live in 1975 and watching my parents reaction to that word being used on TV was even more entertaining then Ackroyd and Curtain combined! lol.

It will be intresting to see if this ever comes to fruition.

PS.. I see they dropped our Micheal Moore thread.. I didnt know we were so far apart on that fat guy :prayer:

FTB, you phenomenally ignorant slut .... don't you realize that Michael Moore rolls in flour every morning so he can find his wee wee? The thought of him writhing, sweating, and grunting while oscillating in the throes of coitus brings to mind two overweight, flabby work horses in heat, replete with hooves and sound effects of whinnying.

I just detest the guy, his causes, and his methods of drawing attention to himself. He reminds me of a bloated Rhinoceros dropping floating in a party punch bowl.

Not alot to disagree with OFD except for his causes. Even his detestors in our industry, can give the guy a nod for bringing International attention to the rate of pay for Regional pilots. It can do nothing but good IMHO. I agree Moore is a fat slob and exactly as you described, but like him or not you gotta admit hes onto something with this.

Still smilin at the old SNL skits, thanks for the chuckles!

PS.. What did you think of his documentary on Columbine?

FTB ... here's why Moore is so afraid of private gun ownership..... he's worried he may be mistaken for a wild boar while out walking.

In reality, that's only remotely possible, however being mistaken for a wild bore is highly likely.

Panic has already been spread. The hippies did what they do best and campaigned to halt nuclear power. The government said a few months ago that for now nuke is off the table. Pretty disappointing to have our conservative government cave into the unshaven and unwashed.

What? Get away!

Jeeze man, and they say when we worry about the Taliban or Al Qaeda getting their hands on Pakistan's atomic weapons that we are fear mongering .... boy, they are experts at it.

Did Hanoi Jane, Barbara Streisand, Martin Sheen, and Sean Penn make a guest appearance at one of the rallies or what?

My guess is it has more to do with the drop in potash prices and general tightening of the purse strings. My guess is when things pick up and we are once again rolling in the dough we will see the issue reopen. We might even see our new football stadium named "Bruce Power Stadium"
