500-600 per week, end of year bounus for contract completion
They tried a 25 and 5 last year not sure if it will stay, but if you go home you loose flying chances while your gone
Hours depend on the season can be 100 or 450 but 200-250 should be norm
Each year has a great group with things to do at night soccer, volley ball, road hockey basket ball and poker night
The girls in the office are great they may call you everyday for info on 'your' book keeping mistakes but never make it a big deal
Over all you cant go wrong if you want to build time and move on.

And as a bonus if you say your prayers, eat your vitamins, and be a good little Hulkamaniac you will be permitted to speak to one of the Mighty Birddog Pilots (cue angelic harp-like sound). Just remember to address him/her as "worshipful master" & never make direct eye contact. Detards are forbade to do so.

Thanks Horunner! Appreciate it.

What about the YTS base? Is there less flying here then any of the other bases?

The detection aircraft in the east are based in Chapleau and Sudbury, none in Timmins.

There was a Detection guy in YTS all last summer. He was based there, how old is your information or is this a "new" change for 2010?

Would a job with H&L be looked on more favourably than getting a similar amount of time elsewhere, in the eyes of the OMNR?

It wouldnt hurt, if you are only looking to do the same or very similar work why not do it with a company that is involved with the OMNR. You may even meet the right person while being on OMNR property all summer.

Redneck I cannot think of a pilot that was ever hired by the OMNR that had worked for Hicks and Lawrence. Usually the problem is detection pilots and birddog pilots lack any float time and the OMNR require at least a 1000 hrs on floats before they will consider you for a job.

I've got around 1300 hrs on floats now, and around the 300 MPIC that H&L wants for birddogging. My end goal would be to do something like you are doing, maybe you could suggest a better course of action? Is it just the lack of float time holding ex H&L pilots out of the OMNR, or is there more to it? PM If you want.

Don't know the answer but I suspect it has to do with the lack of float time. Birddogging experience would certainly not hurt your chances of a tanker position provided you meet the other requirements!!

Good luck!!
