Martin Mars in Steveston

Post by busboy »

Anybody else hear that the Martin Mars will be at Garry point, Steveston, on the 23rd Feb. Heard it will depart in the morning of the 24th.

Good news if its true.

"The massive Martin Mars water bomber will be docked off Garry Point Park on Feb. 23 and 24, making water drops Tuesday at 2 p.m. and Wednesday at 4 p.m."

I also read in the local Port Alberni paper that it will be doing drops in Vancouver Harbour.

The flight crew had to answer a series of skill-testing Canadiana questions, which included correctly picking out the Stanley cup from a series of sports trophy photos.

Ground crew all had to have notes from their moms.

It was flying around today. Hopefully when in Vancouver everyone gets a picture as it may be the last time the aircraft flies over the lower mainland.

You sound like a twisted miserable tin basher. You know the Mars is immortal and will be around for another 40 years.

Beechnut, you sound like a love struck pilot oblivious to the truth. Yes it will be around for many years to come. I wonder what museum will be so lucky to have such an ancient artifact.

Im sure we wont see around in BC as the bullshit Govt. politics here has kept it from working for years but I cant see with the success we hear about in California that it will be seen there for years to come.

Does anybody have actual times and locations of the drop demos. I've been getting conflicting reports from places like here, the Richmond O Zone, and my flying club.

Is that both the Tuesday and the Wednesday demo?

I'm coming in from up the valley and have to plan it properly.

Will there be any other piston powered water bombers performing demos?

Thanks for the heads up about the Convairs. I'm heading down to watch.
