Canjet??

Post by Potbelly »

A friend of mine was hired there a few months ago. From all I've heard, my advice is STAY AWAY. They have great maintenance, the aircaraft are in top shape and the flights go as scheduled. But its all the the back of the lowly "sweat shop" employee. No unions and no security. That big IMP axe is always cocked and ready to chop. Canjet has hired a few direct entry Captains that were layed off from Jazz/AC...they can't wait for the call back. Screw these "peanuts" operators. By the way, peanuts are $2!

And what would be an alternative to Canjet? Westjet? AC? Really there's not much to choose from.

Just like Westjet. What's your point?

BTW Unions are trying to get in at Wal-Mart, that'll create a precedent

What can you expect from an IMP group company?
Stressfull, high pressure demeaning work enviroment. Remember a few years back when McCleans magazine voted IMP/Ken Rowe the worst employer in Canada? I'm absolutley flummoxed that he is running sked airline. To me this just show the desparate situation of aviation in Canada in general and the maritimes in particular for people to work for this guy.

Now just because Industrial Marine Product's hotel in Moscow got mobed up and taken away from them doesn't mean they can't run a good airliner.

I see they get contracts to work on the CP-140 Aurora/Arcturus (P3 Orion's) and the CH-124 Sea Kings

On second thought, I see they are advertising $1 air fares....NOOOOOOO!

Every airline has its problems from Canjet to Air Canada. It's the magnitude that either makes or breakes a company.

Best of luck to Canjet post-Jetsgo.

If it's not salary problems, it's a poor work enviroment. Every company in Canada has it's issues. Find one that best suits you and enjoy life.

Work to live not live to work.

Cheers.

What the hell does everyone here have against $1 fares? FR sends me mail (from when I used to live near EICK) offering penny fares. They make SQUILLIONS. It comes down to yield management and cost management.

JG made a good deal for the Fokker fleet but instead of moving away from the MDs expanded out of control without keeping their eye on the ball and presuming TC wouldn't come knocking. You won't see FR losing RVSM approval because they realise that while they are tight b*stards with staff and pilots (too tight - downright abusive) the one tag FR bashers have never pinned is scrimping on maintenance because they know it's a reputation killer. Sadly, treating pilots like crap as has become even more prevalent lately is not something that loses you customers - something apparently CJ knows too.

Wetsjet an alternative? I heard from a friend of mine that his bi-weekly pay at WJ after exercising all of his stock options is $700 - $750. Can this be true?    (as F/O of course)
