Anyone seen those shots of the Bristol Freighter on the photo site? Was wondering if anyone knew how it got there? who it belonged to before it became a Boathouse etc.
The shots were posted just recently.
Cheers,

The Bristol Freighter is laying on the shore of Beaver Lodge Lake in NWT. About 150nm nw of Yellowknife. From what I could find out, it seems it went through the ice one year while servicing a uranium mine in the 60's. It was hauled on shore and salvaged. Heard it belonged to Max Ward back in the day. I didn't get a chance to poke around her or find out it's regristration. Found it just 3wks ago. I took the photo while taxing on the water. And last week I met Max Ward but I completly forgot to ask him about it.

Cool thanks Klimman,
I always love stumbling across wrecks like that. always stimulates a funny curiosity especially when they are out in sparsely populated areas.
Anyone else have any shots of old heaps they want to post? I saw the photos of the aero commander in the dump up in hall beach.

Is It Possible??? That this aircraft is CF-TFZ - Pacific Western Airlines - that crashed 30 May, 1956 and is still there????
This was the only reference to Beaverlodge Lake in the accident data base!!!
Hard to believe that the Biffo could have survived that long!!

Re: Bristol Photos
By coincidence, I just wrote an article about this Bristol CF-TFZ in the current March/April 2010 issue of Canadian Aviator (see regular column "North of Sixty.") It was operated by Pacific Western Airlines at the time (May 30, 1956), only two months after they had acquired it.
I am writing a book on the history of the Bristol Freighter in Canada and wlecome photographs, comments etc. from people who operated, flew and maintained them.

Re: Bristol Photos
I have this for you Dirk.

Here's another one. Got to dig in my logs for the location and story. This wreckage is a couple hundred miles north of Yellowknife.

Here's photos of the actual accident:Bristol Through Ice
Re:
That was at a lake called "Baker Lake", no relation to the Baker Lake, NWT. It sank to the bottom and has never been found. The reg was CF-UME.bronson wrote:Thanks, I think that may have belonged to Nort Coast out of Pr. Rupert, went through the ice around Whitehorse somewhere many years ago....
It was owned by Northcoast Air Services (Jack Anderson) out of Prince Rupert. That is correct.
