Try this forum, there seems to be more of the rotary crowd there.

BTW your request is very very broad. You're not trying to get other people to do all of your work for you by chance are you?

Canadian Helicopters is a first class operation with lots of room for career progression ie. overseas and multi-IFR equipment. not to mention heli-skiing etc. This is important if you are thinking of a fling wing career as you can easily get stuck flying a 206 for the next 20 years with another operator. They are the equivelant of the airlines in the helicopter business.

If you have a choice, Canadian is the way to go. Lots of different opportunities there.

If you don't have a choice, the one that hires you is best.

Also Canadian Helicopters is doing very well financially. They will be voting soon to see if the shareholders are in a favor of splitting the stock because it's trading over 50$/share.

Where to go

Post by twinheli »

Hey there,

Canadian is a great company. There are two different operations, International and Domestic. Domestic is partially owned by International (49% I believe). The two companies have nothing to do with each others operations, they share paint scheme. International is now called CHC Global. A great company with every benefit you can imagine, top pay scale, and state of the art new aircraft to fly (10 million dollar new S76C+ all glass cockpits, O ya!). To walk through CHC Global door you need min 500 multi turbine, group 4 IFR, ATPL’s written.

Good luck Joe!!

i personally wouldn't waste my time with Canadian, yeah they might have newer machines and all that but their whole attitude towards everybody else in the business is bull. I know a few guys who used to work there and were told that it was against company policy to lend tools or spare parts, even engineers personal tools. I've been on lots of fires and it sure comes in handy when you need a part and the guy from another company parked beside you offers up a spare of theirs until you get yours. What goes around comes around. Its a small industry................

rotorhead is in the right diection here. I used to work for them...and got laid off. I'm not bitter at all...but telling you how it is. They hire a certain number of grads from their school every for gorund crew, then keep 2-3 out of the 6-8 they hire to go on to fly, the rest (my self and 4 others) get laid off, bye bye thanks for coming out. They have a huge turn over rate. as soon as their guys hit 1000-1500 hours they move on.

Global is 100% seperate. One of the best IFR ops any where. They grow While CHL (domestic)continues to shrink and downsize.

PM me for anything else.

CHC Global is growing, and doing well. It is reputed that CHC Global has 70%+ of the international off shore work. No complaints here. I don’t know much about CHC domestic, except to say they have nothing to do with Global ops.

CHC is not hiring now, but Canadian Helicopter has a new contract coming in, that will be tons of money for them. They are hiring from the Apprenticship to Licensed M & E. Better to make a phone call before the door is close. $15 to $20 for apprenticship, $24UP for Licesed guy. Hurry up! Good luck.
