I possibly have an opportunity to work for Biscuit Harbour (resort company) and they have said there may be an opportunity to move over to the flying side of things next year if everything works out. I am wondering if this A) is a good place to work for, and B) if something like this can or has happened? From all my research they seem like an upstanding company but I would like to hear from anyone who is working there or has recently worked there.
Thanks for your help!

I worked for them eight years ago. You will work hard, but they pay well and treat you well. Low time guys will be probably start on the floats, or other singles. If you show them you can do the job, you will get PPC on the twin if a position comes available. You will do a lot of flying. They were VFR only when I was there.
I had a few friends who used to work there. Good things to say, and some things not so good. Biscuit is a good spot to do your time. You should be able to walk backwards and get a job flying next season there. If you get stuck at Sas lodge, the isolation may get to you( the not so good part). But everyone is different. Merlin is a fare guy. On another note, a friend said Jim passed away? Anyone one got the skinny on that one?
Good luck, and bring your bug spray.

Good company/reputation. Pilots seem happy and I have always heard that they are one of the few placs where low time/no time float piots can get on--something to do with their insurance allowing them to avoid the usual "250 floats/500 type" experience requirements.
Pine dock has good fishing and is quite nice. If you are single and willing to move, try to get on with them.

Northway is a very good company to get your start with. As mentioned above they are one of the few companies with no insurance minimums. I spent a little under four months on the dock before my check out on the old 2by7. Started on the dock with 206 hrs under three years later left with over 2600 hrs, about 2500 PIC. The major problem is the lack of IFR and night flying. They have an IFR OC but only one aircraft is currently IFR.
Just this past month they took delivery of a brand new 208B, C-GNWV, very good looking bird.
I won’t lie, there will be many frustrations, but if you are under the impression that there is a company in the country that doesn’t have them you need to get out more. The point is the pros out weigh the cons.
Currently they have four pilots that have been there over three years, which says a lot for a bush company. If you’re not willing to put in long days and work your butt off don’t bother with the drive. The last guys to go from the dock to the flight line were a little over a season and a half. But, that was more than usual.
If I were to start over again I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Although this time I would go the float route. Some of the best people I’ve met in my life work for Northway, so if you’re offered a job I suggest you take it.
If you are driving up to Pine Dock you should take the extra few minutes and drive up to Matheson Island and visit Wamair, another good company to get a start with, similar fleet. I believe that they no longer have insurance minimums either.

Respect? I’ll give you respect… but then it’s yours to lose.
