Canadian North

Post by willing to fly »

I am surprised to hear that they are hiring again. I thought they just laid a bunch of guys off in the fall time.
Does anyone know how many Dash-8 FO's they are hiring? How long would it take someone to upgrade to Captain and what is that based on at Canadian North?

curious about their sked and starting pay...and yes, I read that they laid off some people recently. What's that all about?

Weren't they just awarded a new oil patch contract, and did they not just have another one extended? That coupled with WestJet absorbing a few of their drivers would mean that they probably have some hiring to do. Good seat to park yourself. Get on it if you have the time!

Let me ask a more direct question. How long would someone be parked in the right seat, how long would it take someone to get upgraded to Captain on the Dash? Are upgrades based on seniority or something else?
What about schedules?

I know some Canadian North pilots are going other places for career change or they see something else that may happen at Canadian in the near future.

3 to 6 day pairings either out of Yellowknife or Iqaluit up to 18 days per month.
No single day trips so not at home during pairings. Decent hotel accomodations while away
OK per diems.

Recived a call today. Can anyone shed some light on what the interview process is like. Im guessing it is similar to Jazz or First Air etc. Whats the 37 sim like in comparison to the Dash sim.

Thanks
