Landing Strips on Gulf Islands
Does anybody know of landing strips on some of the Gulf Islands?
I'm familiar with Hansen Field on Cortes, and the Hastings Strip on North Pender. Surely, there are more grass strips that are open to the public on the Gulf Islands.

^ Last time I saw that, it had big white Xes all over it. There's a short one, IIRC, on the NorthEast coast of SaltSpring. Also, there's a private island with a strip just off Thetis Island.
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Re: Landing Strips on Gulf Islands
That strip is called Hudson Island. It is private property, 10 houses on it with a few of the guy's owning their airplanes. Even an actor has a property there (does not fly though). Like I said it is private property so unless you know one of the owners there I would look else where. If you do know one of the owners just make sure you can fly your airplane - there is a bit of a dog leg half way down the runway... The grass is usually kept quite nice though.

Does the short grass strip to the south of YYJ still exist?

Re: Landing Strips on Gulf Islands
There is one on James Island, south of YYJ, very private. There is one on Sidney island, I'm not sure about that one. Also a new one was just put in on Galliano, I'm assuming it's private and would be interested to hear more about it after watching it's progress from the air.
Flying airplanes is easy, you just need to PAY ATTENTION. Finding a good job on the other hand takes experience, practice, and some serious talent.

No dice on the Saltspring strip near Fulford. It was in the valley in between Mt. Taum and Mt. Maxwell just off Fulford-Ganges Rd.

Thats the one I was thinking of. I knew they were considering closing it, but never heard for sure. Is the Pub down in Fulford still around? They had the best burgers on the west coast.

2 things.
The strip to the south of YYJ is Butler Airfield and it is still open. I don't know the requirements for landing there.
The other half of Sidney Island (the half that the strip is on) is private property and you cannot land there. Same goes for the strip on James Island. Been ages since I flew over either of those though.

The new one on galliano is private as well, it got the islands trust people all in huffed up. Unless you have a helicopter I would not count butlers as an airfield anymore, at best its two hundred yards now with a fence
