What to do in Montreal (YUL)
I am going on an engine course in Montreal in May. I am a Westcoaster and this is my first time there. I am wondering if there are any interesting sights I should hit. I will be in class most of the time but I have about half a day (and every evening)before I fly out.....
Thanks,
Thanks,

The businessman's lunch at Place de Liesse on the Cote de Liesse service road, out near the airport, is not to be missed.

St-Denis streeet, Crescent st., St-Laurent st., st-catherine st. just go to those places and you will find something you like. The Old Port is nice too, hopefully the weather will still be warm like it is now (15 celsius) and you can have beers outside! A lot of things to do and see!

If you like to work out, they have the best gym in all of Canada . . . ProGym
In June is the Formula One race; F-1 Montreal the whole city parties for a week downtown, and the city has 300,000 visitors for the race weekend. If you don't know anything about F-1, the cars are faster than they appear on tv, the sound of an 18000 rpm engine is unbelievable, and the cars are far more colourful than they appear on tv - the race crowd and the energy is amazing.
Old Montreal is just a great place to hang out, and if you have access to a bicycle or rent one, you can follow the paths along the Lachine Canal to Lachine - great ride, lots of friendly people.

You can buy your briddal gown on St-Hubert street.
If you bring your guitar or any other instrument, the metro is a nice plane to give a show, it's warm and a lot of people will hear your music.
On a more serious note, GEG is the web site for most entertainment events.

There's me and my ol' Tri-Pacer, hardly two hour drive up in the Laurentides. You're very welcome for a ride around my patch!

Try spotting
... all you need is a camera and some luck with weather. I've heard that 24L/06R has the best spotting because civilians can get the closest to the approach. Use the dead end street called Chermin St. Francois to park. That is the most popular place to spot from.

Re: What to do in Montreal (YUL)
Vieux Montreal is quite something during the summer season. I suggest you take a walk down St Paul street and by the water.
I also suggest you spend some time in the plateau area of Montreal. The night life in areas around St Denis and Mont Royal streets is a little more interesting. Crescent and Lower St-Lo "st lawrence street", is pretty much over. (too many toursit!) The French cutlure in the plateau is very unique and pleasant.
Montreal is considered to be almost like a suburb of Paris.
