If you haven't been robbed but almost have you are doing ok. You have room to improve but also a little cushion to fail

My first kid will be here Wednesday so time will tell if I fail or succeed.

Just to start? I dunno, pretty sure starting PC12 drivers at ornge are making about 20K more a year than that, plus everything you included in the subsection. Lets see, q300 takeoff,? 40,000ish lbs, 60 some-odd peoples, 2 engines for 56k a year when ornge driver makes 76 plus driving a 10,000ish lbs, 4 some-odd peoples, 1 engine lawn dart? Hrm.

To give an honest answer, 75K to start, plus all benefits, plus paid training. Amazing how well we are willing to sell ourselves for, and for what? The right to fly a big airplane? Who gives a rat's ass what size airplane you fly, I want to know what size your paycheck is. Money puts food in your belly and a roof over your head, a big airplane puts a fancy hat on your ego and the right to have yourself called captain? I know truck drivers making in excess of 70K a year, driving a TRUCK! Of which his course was paid for by his company, put up and paid during his training, and guarenteed a job after training? What a crock this industry has become, no thanks to the people who drive it. Suckers.

It is very nice to see that I am out in left field with my "starting" wage. I guess I am a little out of touch as I have not been in the right seat for 20+ years. Our co-pilots start at 75K.

But I must ask one question...If my starting wage is so low, why are there so many pilots flying for the wages that they are? I have heard the horror stories from fellow pilots and I find it disappointing that so called professionals will work for so little after investing so much. In my corporate flight department management position I earn six figures plus bonuses and the perks. I will say that I have indeed earned it as I did start on the docks in the far North 30+ years ago and worked my way up and never did I work for peanuts or just for the experience.

Perhaps GA does need representation to protect both sides...

Because they are bunch of two bit whores with heads the size of beach balls because they're mom and daddy told them one day they were more special than everyone else, with a special gift, and that they should never let the world get them down, and they shouldn't settle for anything but they're dream. Which is why they are not smart enough to do economics, but just smart enough to fly air-panes. Go figure.

Wow, glad you shared that with us. Anyone surprised? Management making 6 figure a year, hrm. Boy its tough answering the phone and telling people where to go and how to get there, with the 40.....39.....38....30 some odd hour weeks, weekends off. I'm glad that you earned it, you're smarter than most here. Keep up the good work, I envy you, and not from a sarcastic point of view either. Kudos.

Dear Mr Minimums,

Management is not all the cream cheese you may think it to be. At least not for me. I fly over 500 hrs a year and still schedule the aircraft,plan trip logistics, maintenance, crew, training, wash airplanes inside and out and occasionally sweep the hangar floor.

Oh yes...weekends to me are two days before Monday but I do try, however, to spend Sundays with my family if I am not away flying. A 40 hr week is what a secretary at an oil company works.

I could go on but I think I have made my point. I will mention, a point of fact, that one of my colleagues, flying for another such operation, makes six figures per year as well and he is only a Captain. Albeit a ten thousand + hour one.

I do earn my keep.

Good luck in your flying career. A wise old bush pilot once told me, you will only get out of it what you put in.

Hopefully our industry pilots will one day quit being their own worst enemy and demand to be paid for the professional they claim to be.
