Applying to Companies with Online Applications.
In my job hunting, I have came across several companies that have links to apply online from their websites. Is it better to only apply on this link, or is acceptable to also email (or snail mail for that matter) a copy of my resume? I'm finding that the applications limit what I can say about myself, and there is always a spot to upload my resume anyway.

Mmmmk, or you can go there in person and maybe get the job. I always viewed the online app as a way for a company to say "go f yourself". Next think you know people are going to ask if they should twitter an application

There are some that will tell you that they don't accept paper resumes, apply online.
Regardless, *if* a person can submit an application in person, it's likely better. On that note, why not do both?

So you are saying that in order to get a job, you have to visit the company in person?

Do everything you can. Fax, email, visit, apply online...whatever it takes to make yourself stand out over the rest. Just don't be a pest.Redneck_pilot86 wrote:So you are saying that in order to get a job, you have to visit the company in person?
Re: Applying to Companies with Online Applications.
Most likely that online application forwards the content in a generated e-mail to a web e-mail account that never gets checked. Most likely this is done to avoid the FLOOD of 250hr wonder resumes they would normally get by posting the cp's or info e-mail addresse. Make sense no?>flying4dollars wrote:SuperchargedRS wrote:Mmmmk, or you can go there in person and maybe get the job. I always viewed the online app as a way for a company to say "go f yourself". My online application goes direct to my personal email address. It amazes me though how many 250 hr guys send resumes via the online form when right at the top it says minimums are 1000 tt. If they don't understand those minimums I find it doubtful they understand landing minimums.Rowdy wrote:Most likely that online application forwards the content in a generated e-mail to a web e-mail account that never gets checked. What makes more of a impression, a file and a email address and a person a greeting and a good hand shake?

Re: Applying to Companies with Online Applications.
Some of you are missing the point of my question. If I could go and visit every company I would potentially work for, I would. But I don't have the funds to get to every end of the road place in Canada. So I email and call. But when I come across a company that gives me the option to apply, albeit in a somewhat mediocre way, on their website, I'm not sure what to do. So for the sake of this thread, lets say a visit is not possible,

Not sure what to do??? You apply!! Nothing changes. Do everything you can to make yourself standout and get noticed. Remember, when you sit behind a computer and apply for a job, there are hundreds of others, many of which will be more qualified than you, applying as well. So do what you can to show them you give a shit about the job. If there's an online application, fill it out. If there's an email address and phone number on the website, use them.
Good luck
