Okay. But you keep those dinky toys out of my hair and away from this plane for 15 minutes, maybe less. I'll DRIVE it out.

Hello all,
No one was hurt, that's the main part and i was always told, a good landing is one you walk out off.
Good work
cheers

Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
it's not uncommon for the speed brakes to sink back down once hyd. are off,but looks like the
l.e. flaps and slats are up,t.e. as well. is this normal?

Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
Agrios Anemos - For the choice of runway, I'm not really qualified to comment on this or second guess the crew, but I should mention that the crosswind really wasn't as you stated. Both rwys available had crosswinds reported at the time, 06 30 deg right, 11, 20 deg left (var 20 deg W). 06 has an ILS and 11 has NDB and RNAV approaches only. Seems that neither rwy would have been limiting in those conditions (my speculation only), and 06 had an ILS.

Colin

No, it's not. Usually the Kruger flaps will droop with hydraulics off as well...billy ray valintine wrote:it's not uncommon for the speed brakes to sink back down once hyd. are off,but looks like the

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
Just guessing, hard to tell the conditions from 800 ft away
The air bags can, lift the aircraft when access to the jacking pads are not available, they spread the load over a larger area if the soil does not allow a load concentration and of course they can begin lifting when only a small space under the desired lifting point is available. They are limited in that the lift surface must be relatively parallel to the ground on which the air bags are placed. The steel plates keep the mains from sinking if the soil won't support the MLG load. Possibly the RH MLG has folded or sunk. And Bushav8er I've also had the joy to have been behind a shovel to dig out big stuff as well.
Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
They got it out today, sitting on the apron now. They trucked in an awful lot of gravel though. Don't believe they used airbags to get it out, just dug out around it, put the gravel down, put some steel plates in, and towed it out. From my understanding, the gear didn't collapse, it's just muddy off the end and they sunk in.

Hairdo you seem to be well informed.
Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
Taxied past it yesterday, sitting on the apron plugged into a ground power cart with maintenance folks and trucks all around it. Sitting level on its gear, right wing and all its bits certainly looked intact from what I saw. I think it may have been doing engine runs later yesterday afternoon.... Certainly sounded like it!

It's a Boeing, it's fine.

Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
a good landing is one you walk out off.
Be sure to include that belief in the cover letter with your resumes. There might just be some companies out there that expect just a bit more from a good landing. No point in surprising them with a bent plane from one of your good landings.

Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
The 727 flew back to CYHM last night. Gear down the whole way. Hehe.
Re: 727 overrun in Moncton
Did a gear swing over the weekend, made some minor repairs and she's back in service as of yesterday!
Great job by all involved!
