Only if the car was transponder equipped.

I remember a crazed farmer ramming an Air Cadet tow plane in Innisfail years ago. He and his family came out because they were upset that they couldn't expand their buildings due to the proximity of the airport or something like that.

Hey looproll...
You do have part of the story. The first casualty was a 172 that had stopped for fuel. The couple were on their way to a reunion and must have throught that Innisfail was a nice, quiet spot to take a break. The farmer first drove his truck under the wing of the 172 at the pumps, then took aim at the Scout and drove into its empennage, crushing the horizontal stabilizer and spinning the aircraft around. About the same time, while the couple with the 172 was fuelling, other members of the farmers family were apparently lighting matches to try and ignite the fuel ... I was busy on the phone with the RCMP dispatch at the time and missed that part.
As I recall, their primary beef was with the County, that kept changing the building permit limitations for either a building or a silo that was to be built on their land, just off the approach to 16. I've got some photos kicking around somewhere of the damage... It was quite a day.

What did they do to the farmer? Public apology and community service?

I've attached a scan of a newspaper article about the incident. It indicates that the individual was charged with mischief causing more than $5 000 damage. I don't recall what the final result was.

I can release funds from the former president's dormant accounts if he can send me 1000 dollars for the administrative fees. Should help with his bail money. There is no problem at all at our airports, no cause for alarm, as we have the necessary security on the ground,' said Akin Olukunle, spokesman for the Federal Airport Authority.

Failed suicide bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab managed to get past screening in Lagos
He said the driver had broken through two security gates at Calabar international airport and rammed his car into the Arik Air plane before soldiers arrested him.
The suspect was heard yelling that all Nigerians were sinners and must repent or perish, a reporter who was at the airport said.
The man, who is from Nigeria's southeastern state of Akwa Ibom, said he had been sent by Jesus Christ.
Authorities are questioning him in Calabar.
Edet Okon Asim, a spokesman for the local Cross Rivers state government, said investigators were trying to find out the man's motives.
'The man I saw in there was behaving like an insane person,' he said.
