Victoria get-together?

Post by North Shore »

Attention Islanders (and Mainlanders, if you can get a day pass  )

BMC is coming to town, and was thinking of a get-together at a decent watering hole in YYJ. Tentatively March 6th @ Canoe Club? Spinnakers? Swans? Any other ideas?

STL, will you be off sailing by then? AirTids? Wilbur (I think that you live in YJ) CatDriver, are you and Randy interested in driving down from Nanaimo? Big Pistons?

Prior to seeing this thread, my work commitments were making me doubt the trip to YVR next week. Big project on the go with a mid March delivery. Will have a better sense by Wednesday. :?

North..thanks for leading this as discussed. You're a good lad.

Stay tuned.

Cat...can you check with RH down the road and see if he's around?

I'm starting to feel that I have to make this trip happen. My wife has been coaxing me for the past half hour.

I know I've got some work to do towards the end of the week, but should be able to free myself up. Any suggestions as to locale? Flying Otter?

The Flying Otter! Now that's a great suggestion - I've never been there before, and am getting sick of the Swans/Canoe/Spinnakers rut..

C'mon BMC, you know you want to...

Another AvCanada get together, a festivus Miracle!!!

Day late and a dollar short for me to attend, but have a beer or two for me.

I'll be back in YVR for either the last week of May or first week of June or both as our eldest daughter graduates from UBC. That should see us in YVR, YYJ and Pender Harbour (not far that incredible photographer that flies wingless machines).

Expect another thread calling for a get together.

Let me consult my "before drinking beer" checklist

1) Wife..........ask for permission
2) Schedule....determine
3) Location.....verify
4) Timing........verify

So I am down to step 4. When are we meeting at the flying Otter ?
See checklists are usefull

The timing is getting a bit to close for me to say yes for sure.

Why not re-plan it for a little later and maybe get a few more people able to attend?

Hi everyone...I advised my travel dept that I had to cancel this trip.

North...you're a pal for stepping up to organize this.

I will be back in early June as stated. I plan to be on the island and WILL try to meet some you characters. I promise.

I need to hang around Canadians from time time and hanging out with propeller heads makes it all the more worthwhile.

Looking forward to it.

just a bump to see if anyone has given this anymore thought. We are thinking about heading this way this summer to show off the new baby to some friends and family.

Around July 10th or October 31st would be nice as it would give me a chance to watch my Riders slap the Lions around.

While I might be around for July 10, Mrs Shore would take a dim view of my going out with you guys seeing as it is our anniversary! October I can definitely commit to..

If you plan to get to the Lions/Riders game be sure to get tickets early as the Lions are playing at the old Empire Stadium grounds in a temporary stadium with significantly more limited seating than BC place. 27,500 capacity and last year average attendance was 34,000/game. So be sure to book early and bring rain gear. It is an outdoor stadium.

phhht! Rain gear. I'm a Rider fan. Rain just makes us go more crazy.

This is the view from my seats when the lights came back on. There was still about 10 to 15 thousand people left at the stadium about an hour or so later when play resumed.

The best football is played in the Rain with a 70mph wind in your face. Or even better is in November with snow cold and wind.

I was actually thinking the 9th or 11th for the meet up as the game is on the 10th so it could be a struggle scheduling the game and meet up the same day.
