HST is now up and running in ONT...2 months early

Post by KAG »

So I just read that vendors can now charge the HST (as of May 1st) even though the actual start date is July 1st. Thank you Dalton McGuinty. You can be sure the liberals will not bet getting my vote.

As Joe Biden once said, you should feel patriotic to pay taxes.

I guess some vendors are so patriotic...

I can't remember who said it, but someone mentioned that Canada is land of it own, that you guys like paying taxes.

I renewed my gym membership yesterday, a few days early to avoid the thievery.

Can't wait until July 1 to start paying 8% more for gasoline, that's gonna be awesome.

If it is the same as BC, it is for things that are presold (like vacations) where the product or service is being used after July 1st. No, they aren't jumping the gun, but it still sucks--especially for those who wanted to make purchases ahead of the game.

Me, I'm going to be headed to Wild Rose Country to do most of my shopping come July....

Oh you still will have a little bit of money left. Stop whining , eh.

Experienced mafia goons know not to bleed you totally dry right off the bat-they want you to survive long enough so they can keep bleeding you ....

I say we should slap on some carbon taxes, some higher power bills , and a duck-washing tax on all hydrocarbons.

Sure-people might complain....but as long as they still have a little left.....no one will actually ever do anything about being robbed........ :D

British Columbia has successfully implemented a tax on air....next year-how about a sunlight tax.

The politicians in Toronto and Ottawa must laugh their asses off at how stupid we are in this country. But then again, maybe the politicians are just as stupid and they don't even see how they stick it up our collective poop-shoot.

But seriously, I'm just gonna blame niss for everything that is bad in Ontario. He voted Liberal.

Not sure if this is happening in BC as well, but in Ontario there are federal employees who handle GST collection and provincial employees who handle PST collection. Not sure which government is taking over HST collection, but I heard on the news that the employees from the government not collecting the HST are going to be terminated, collect severance, and hired on by the other government into basically their same previous positions. The news had talked about many who will collect 6 figure packages and not miss a day of work or a single paycheck.
