2010 Beaver Drivers

Post by 1coolav8r »

How's the pay this year compared to previous years given the recession, etc?

Feel free to list:

Experience
Type of flying and location (Coastal, lodge/tourist, remote/reserves, etc)
Room and board?
Schedule ( 7 on, 7 on, 7 on, 7 on? etc)
Any other factors involved in pay scale

Cheers and here's to a safe season ahead 8)

Last year I took a pretty hard hit to the wallet; grand total of over $7400 less than the previous year at the place I had been working for for 2 years already. Wasn't due to the economy though. As a result, sadly, I cannot be counted among 2010 beaver drivers, I can't live on crap wages. :(

Thanks, it was a year-round gig, but I made sure I had a hold on the next branch before I let go of the last one.

Good job Slats...I was going to ask if it was year round. Too bad it had to come to that but at least you had another option.

Back to the original topic...nobody wants to chime in?

On the west coast I know of day rates ranging from $225-$350 per day. No room & board or benefits. Variety of customers & destinations.

The larger companies seem to pay day rate+ miles, or Hourly based on duty times. Daily wages range from $225-$350+ depending on seniority/season, etc Including benefits. No lodging (some for summer only guys). Flying includes harbour to harbour sched's & some charters...
