Questions

Post by eterepekio »

Im doing questions for a Refresher Course and I am finished. I did, however come across some questions that left me with a few doubts. I am posting them here along with my answers. Hopefully some more experienced instructors can provide me with a bit of guidance. Thanks people!

(Q)Must any paperwork be submitted to the minister of a freelance Class 1 instructor doing the ground portion only of a flight instructor rating?

The CAR's only reference "flight training" but not ground training. Maybe you should provide a PTR signed off AFTER the training? What do you think?

(Q)May an aircraft being rented by a flight training unit to a licensed pilot have an unserviceable turn coordinator / turn and slip indicator?

The CAR's only say that a Turn Coordinator is required for flight training, so I think you could rent out an airplane to a licenced pilot since there is no training taking place. Any input?

(Q)What mark would be assigned if a CPL candidate conducted a missed approach on their soft field landing, but did a perfect landing on their second attempt?

I would say 3 (since the Go Around is permitted only for the Short Field without losing points, not Soft) What do you think?

(Q)When an ELT is removed for annual inspection from an FTU aircraft, the aircraft is restricted to operations within 25NM of the aircraft base. TRUE or FALSE

I say TRUE based as per CAR 605.38(3)(d) OR FALSE as per CAR 605.38(3)(e)

605.38 (3) an aircraft referred to in subsection (1) may be operated without an ELT on board where the aircraft is
(d) operated by the holder of a flight training unit operating certificate, engaged in flight training and operated within 25 nautical miles of the aerodrome of departure;

(e) engaged in a flight test

-Does "flight test" mean an actual checkride or a test flight for aircraft certification purposes?

Thanks!!!
