" For a LONG time they broke the rules so constantly... They just got complacent. They didn't even bother to hide it from Transport. "
O.K. if they broke the rules constantly for a long time and TC was aware of it was any action taken by TC to jolt them into compliance during that long period of time?
If there was action taken prvious to a complete shutdown that would at least answer most of my curiosity about this.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Cat: The follow is all conjecture. I'm not a transport guy, but you know how they work. They probably had a really good idea what was going on, but had nothing conclusive until they went in and did real thorough inspection. Once they found out how bad it was, and for how long, it was Keystone all over again. It was time to put out the fire. Please don't blame Transport for the actions of a company and their pilots. Regardless of what is happening at PAG, Keystone or anywhere else, two wrongs don't make a right. A line is drawn in the sand with the CARS. Break 'em and thats it, they have you by the balls.
... let's go kick the tires and slip the surly bonds ...

mofo :
Hell I'm not blaming TC for what has happened with Skyward for the simple reason I have no idea of what exactly brought them to this point.
If you read enough of my posts you will know that I am 100% for shutting down dangerous operators, if they are not in compliance with the law.
Like accidents we are usually left to speculate until the final report is made public, and I expect that sooner or later we will find out why the hammer fell so hard on Skyward.

Well, it sounds like its official, my thoughts and prayers to the few good people left there, I hope your luck changes for the better, and to management that put everyone in this position...
You should be ashamed,
Do us all a favour, and stick to the church business, I hear God is a little more forgiving than Transport.

hey Mofo
you refer to "for the actions of the company and the pilots" as a reason to shut down the company.
Well I tell you to stick it- your an idiot! What would you know!
I was a pilot and in short the flight department was not that bad, there were a couple of bugs, but hey thats everywhere. Your a moron if you think it was "the pilots". Yes we are at the sharp end get your story right! In fact the pilots suffered long and hard in this whole ordeal and were the first ones laid off. If I was a maintenance guy I would have actually still been getting a pay check this week! Which is kinda ironic as most of the problems and the "big" issues revolved around maintenace.
Eitherway its a done deal- time to keep on moving. Good luck to all you Skyward guys- come visit me sometime you know where I'll be!

hey polarkiwi stick it in your ass,
the maintenance team did what management told them to do and what not to do, there was no money for parts (thats why the bandit got parked and raped beyond recognition) thats why the deferred section of the log book was left without lines to fill in. the maintenance team did the best that they could with what they had just like the pilots did (you as a pilot didn't have to take a plane that you felt was unairworthy, but you did anyway contributing to the problem) i didn't see any major fines handed out by transport to any one of the AME's working there, if it was the AME's doing the wrong they would of been fined and licenses suspended (just like the two pilots without ppc's), as for still getting a paycheck this week WTF??? last time i checked 90% of the maintenance staff was layed off feb 6th, not very long after you, and how did you expect the planes to get fixed without a maintenance team anyway, you should fuc*%#g think before you speak because everyone had a part in this and you should be the last one to pass the "BUCK"
Insain

Wow, seems with all that's gone on these last few days I'm just happy to be the hell gone out of there and have all my money and good references to go with me. For all the skeptics out there that think the employees won't get paid, they will. Well, at least I did so whatever. As far as praying, I don't much. I do pray that I'll make it back home in one piece (roads are very bad these days) and that Capt SJ gets a pay cut to the point he'll not be able to afford the young hookers he gets his only play from. Too bad about the meeting and the news tonight. Good to have news about what's going on though. The whole shut down's got me right pissed off because of the lack of what's said and direction and information to the staff. If management screwed up so bad they're ashamed to face the public that pay the bills, at least have the balls to tell your employees what is really going on. Maybe lie a little, but just show the slaves that worked for a few bucks and hour to build the empire a glimpse of reality.
Everything comes in threes....

Best of luck to everyone, including the pilots, who used to work at Skyward.
Polar Kiwi:
"Your a moron if you think it was the pilots. " - If you're going to call me a "moron", the you're going to need to review your grammer.
"the flight department was not that bad, there were a couple of bugs, but hey thats everywhere."
If you're somewhere else now, and you're still flying broken airplanes, then you've missed an important lesson. After all, what's "not that bad" is already decided for you, it's called a MEL.

Your right the "buck" stops here- nice phrase. Sorry if I offended you personally- but I think you missed the point of it and I'm not out to point the finger as really its a waste of energy.
My point was the major hold up was maintnence (not the people, AMEs or there skills) , I actaully spent quite a bit of time with them! but the paper work- or stuff behind the scenes- seems it caught us all by suprise. Thats the point! Hard to argue with a plane still grounded because of paper work after 8 weeks.
As for the still working- well again- just the analogy- the day we stop flying is the day pilot stops work.
Anyway enough chit chat
Watch out for memorabilia on e-bay!

I suppose I shall be going to hell for this observation:
Terry Shiavo, after much suffering and lingering, has finally passed away.
In a related story, Skyward Aviation, after much suffering and lingering, has finally passed away.

You've finally made it in Aviation when you nolonger work in a city which begins with Fort, Port, Prince, or Saint. Or leave aviation and stay in a Fort.

Your observation has merit because in both cases there has been much anguish and suffering for those surrounding both deaths.
I have two questions.
(1) Could anything different been done to prevent a lot of this anguish?
(2 ) Will we ever really know the truth as to what caused these deaths?

Well... It's been quite a ride!
Just wanted to get in here and thank all the Skyward people for the great and the not so great memories. Some not so great memories inlcude: being storm stayed in Rankin for 6 days while a blizzard kept us inside playing Bond on the nintendo, at the same time Christmas and New Years passing us by. I say this is a not so great memory, but as time passes by, those memories become more enjoyable because I can laugh about them now.
Goodtimes: How about IslanderEddie, telling crude jokes and aviator stories after a long day of work out of Rankin.
I call a lot of you my friends, and I know our paths will cross again. Thank you to all for the memories, keep in touch.
To all the Perimeter and Calm Air pilots... I permanately cancel my IFR, I will no longer be holding you up or down.
It's been fun, Goodbye!!
