GO JAZZ GO

Post by HORUNNER »

Looks like they are hiring again, maybe enough rungs will open up on the latter for a few of us to find a hold . . .
Any idea if this is just the start and will be more rounds this summer or not!?!?

So what are we looking at so far this year?

- 45 positions at Jazz
- over 50 at Westjet (based on about 100 this year and half a year to go)
- up to 50 at Porter
- a small handful at Air Transat
- What's going on at AC?
- What about Air Georgian? They were hiring and now they're not?

It could be a decent year after all is said and done, but it's too early to tell.

43 positions left, they're going to hire me, I told them I'll do it all single pilot since I like the extra shoulder room good luck to everyone else who applied :smt040

Folks, I know that the hiring is a positive sign, but it just has to be said:

It shows the horribly sad state of the industry when all you guys/gals are bouncing off the ceiling with excitement at making 34K per year. I made about 25K in my first year of instructing in 1998, and from 1999 onwards got a job at 48K(light piston twin/single turbine), and steady (albeit slow) climb to respectable salary flying bizjets now.

You young guys/gals have to give your head a shake. Changing the state of the industry starts with you 1500 hour folks that are going to Jazz/Georgian/CMA/Pasco etc....well, that and limiting the number of CPL's granted...but that's another debate.

I didnt realize, "maybe enough rungs will open up on the latter for a few of us" wreaked of bouncing off the walls, sorry for that I was only meaning to comment a considerably low percentage of us might get some movement, I dont want Jazz I just want people to go there so I can find work where they left.

I have been sitting in Winnipeg for a year now and havent even found a reason to move(or stay), had a ton of biters this spring but nothing yet. (1600hrs)

Northern Pilot you sir may want to give your head a shake. I think you can hardly compare Jazz to CMA, PASCO, Gerogian Etc. I am glad that you found your way to make some money. But for the rest, the little stability that Jazz would give is a benefit. Not to mention, union representation, benefits, passes a mutually respectful working environment etc.

While I will agree that the STARTING pay is in some ways pathetic, it is just that STARTING PAY. After the first 2 years things do look up. There is a lot more to a job than the pay. Some of the best paying jobs I have had were the ones with the most negative work environment. One can only hope that the new contract shows some sign of improvement with regard to the pay scale at Jazz.

What is even more pathetic than the STARTING pay at jazz is that for many it is a fair to modest raise from what they are making now. It is easy to point fingers and kibosh the pay/conditions at Jazz but if it makes you feel better about yourself and prouder of what you have now then have at'er.

No 757 guys (or gals) are being hired. Those positions are being filled from within. These will be 45 new spots for RJ and Dash. No word on bases yet. I'm sure we will find that out soon. First class of 12 is to be July 12th.

You sir may want to read the papers and watch the news....This just in, we are in the middle of a strike vote to change things here. GET OVER IT

Instead of coming onto an annymous foroum and complaining about how shitty Jazz is how about coming and joining us on the picket lines as a pilot to show that you as a pilot in this industry won't stand for this so called low balling everyone complains about.

If you don't come out, I sure hope that you dont' apply here in 2 months after everything is now what you like, but weren't willing to fight for like us 1500 great folks already here.

Mike.

Good on you guys, hope you guys are the precedent setter and ACPA follows suit. Would be sure nice to consider Jazz as a career option. Right now it's limited to the undre 30's living at home with the parents. Pretty hard to get by, support a family and a motgage on Jazz or AC starting wages. Hope there is a change for the better.

so 45 positions, whats that about 4 ground schools? and how many of these will be take by people left hanging when hiring ended last time. Im guessing they will be some of the first ones in the door this time. From all the excitment and the number of view of the Jazz posting on here it appears there will be long line of pilots fighting for these few spots.
