Air Canada JETZ

Post by TTail »

Does Air Canada still use these aircraft for sports teams and other higher end charters? Saw one land in West Palm Beach FL a couple of days ago.

I dont know how the sports charters are doing but i just read on "the Daily" that U2 hired a Jetz aircraft for their north american tour.

Here's part of the Daily from April 1/05

We’ve got that rock’n’roll feeling –AC Jetz flies high with U2 on Vertigo tour. No, you're not seeing things. That is one of our Air Canada Jetz Airbus 320 aircraft sporting the distinctive U2 logo. Over the next few weeks, the world-famous Irish rock group will be flying with us on the first leg of the band's North American Vertigo tour. For the duration of the tour, Fin 402 has been reconfigured into a 52 J seat private jet with a dedicated crew of four flight attendants and one mechanic onboard. Jetz will be flying Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. to San Jose, Phoenix (Glendale), Denver, Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston. Between their concert dates, we will fly them to San Jose Del Cabo in Mexico and Nassau for a little down time. Stay tuned to The Daily. When we have some photographs to share we'll let you know.

So are the aircraft with the 'JETZ' logo strictly used for charters or are they incorporated into the regular schedule as well?

Thanks

No they are not. Not sure how many a/c are used now for JETZ but last year the were 4 of them. I have seen the JETZ aircraft being used in regular service when one of the regular mainline a/c went mechanical. I have recently seen a JETZ a/c that is configured to be used in mainline operations.

What are the differences inside the 'JETZ' aircraft?

The interior of the Jetz aircraft is set up how the customer wants it. Could be an executive flying boardroom one day, a sports team another day or whatever. If they need a fill in on the normal line, they just put in whatever interior they need.
