Diversion to Winnipeg?

Post by willing to fly »

I was walking the dog when I heard a different set of engines on approach for rwy 36 in Winnipeg. I couldn't get a good look through the trees but it was a 4 engine jet but I don't think it was a 747/A340. Nothing on flight aware with that many fans. Thought I heard a second one land about 30 minutes later.

It appeared to be a NATO Boeing 707.

I'd know the sound of a C-17. The 707 would make sense as it really sounded different. That would also explain why they were not on flightaware.

There were two NATO 707s expected, I believe. As well, there was a US KC-135 that diverted Friday morning with an engine out. Nice to see something other than RJs and '37s :)
