How to log N-*** hours?
Hello guys,
I have TC CPL and FAA PPL-converted. I am supposed to ferry N reg twin from States as safety pilot and just wondering how should I log those hours in my Logbook?
Any suggestions appreciated...

Re: How to log N-*** hours?
Are you flying? Is it a 2 crew aircraft? If not one of those, I'd say not.
Re: How to log N-*** hours?
The trip is from PA to mid europe takes about 7-8 days if we do 4.3 hrs/day with some7-8 stops for fuel. I don't know if it require second pilot technically....but for sure safety pilot will be great relief for PF.

Re: How to log N-*** hours?
What type of aircraft is it? If it's a single pilot airplane (which I am guessing it is) then you can't log it towards a TC ATPL, or towards your official(legal) total time. However, it's excellent experience, and even if you can't officially log it towards qualifying for a higher license, it's worth keeping a record of it. That kind of experience is extremely valuable whether or not it's in your log book.
Re: How to log N-*** hours?
It's P68,as per TC it requires only one crew so am guessing just the experience for me.Tx.
what you meant by PIC in US?
Any info about "PIC under training" or under supervision?
Also heard if I didn't have IFR then I could have logged as dual,is it true?
thanks guys..

It is, in Canada, a single pilot aircraft.

You can only log IFR time if the pilot in command is commercial, IFR current for type and you are receiving training.
You can only log hours where your hands are on the controls, and I would venture to add, and acting as PIC. Unless this aircraft has a Private Operator certificate (or commercial) which states that it operates as 2 crew and you are REQUIRED to be there, in which case you may log SIC time.
You can't log dual unless you are getting training from a qualified instructor, on type.
Sounds like a great experience for you and a fun trip but I'm afraid that, as you describe it, you are pretty much a 'passenger'.

Re: How to log N-*** hours?
PIC under supervision is a special program, wouldn't apply here. What looproll is referring to is that in the US you can have a pilot flying in the left seat, a safety pilot monitoring in the right seat, and an instructor in the back, all logging PIC at the same time.
I would definitely put it in your logbook, but make a new column for it, like safety pilot. Or you could log it P2 and not count it when you submit your times for the ATPL.
If the PIC has a commercial or ATPL, you could also log the whole thing as dual, though only 3 hours would count towards the ATPL. If the PIC also has an instrument rating and 500 hours PIC time, you can log it as dual instrument time if you are getting IFR training.

Re: How to log N-*** hours?
One more question. What sort of proof I should save for the record of flying since that twin will be deregister from N-. Anything I should get from PIC on paper after the trip?
I am getting paid so I have contract letter signed by owner.
Thank you guys for the useful info.

Re: How to log N-*** hours?
Not a big deal, just record it your book as per normal only use the N instead of C reg. You may take your book with you to have the pilot (owner?) sign the time as 'certified correct on a/c Nxxxxx'. But remember - only the time you can record, ahramin's idea of a new column sounds good.
Hey, enjoy the trip and take/post pics when your done.
