Canso down near Inuvik about 10 years ago
About 10 years ago a Canso went down in Sitidgi Lake near Inuvik. The guy I was working for pulled the thing out of the water. When I left the north, the plane was still sitting on the shore. Just curious whatever happened to that plane? Did they fly it out ever? Is it still there?

Was there ever an accident report published on that aircraft?
Re: Canso down near Inuvik about 10 years ago
There was a TSB occurrence number for the accident (A01W0176) but it was a Class 5 investigation ... so no report. Only the initial CADORS (2001C0879) record.

There's a Buffalo machine with a busted wing sitting in some industrial yard at the north side of Inuvik. At least it was 2 years ago. Could that be the one?
Re: Canso down near Inuvik about 10 years ago
that's the one, but like mentioned above it's now down south.

Re: Canso down near Inuvik about 10 years ago
someone, buffalo maybe? hauled it out across the lake in early spring of '08.
Rowdy might have photo or 2.
/edit/ I heard that the job got botched when it was raised by lifting it too fast and the weight of water in the wing(s) bent them when it got above the surface. But that's about 9th hand info so whatever....

That would be right. I worked for the guy who lifted it who was really just an amateur diver, but wanted the insurance contract (for ++$$$). I think they needed 3 tries to lift it. The ropes kept breaking or something like that and it kept sinking. This is the same guy who used to put his diving gear on jump in the water by our dock, swim underwater with his butt surfaced to the competitor's dock and look for tooks that the guy might have dropped into the lake. Any idea's what the Arctic Wings owners are up to now?'effin hippie wrote: /edit/ I heard that the job got botched when it was raised by lifting it too fast and the weight of water in the wing(s) bent them when it got above the surface. I think they have a B&B out the road to the airport and have one of the rent a car businesses in the town.Bede wrote:That would be right. Nope but heard he was in the maritime provinces somewhere.

Arctic Chalet is owned by the father and his wife. They have owned it since before they got Arctic Wings. Didn't realize the son had left Inuvik. Is he flying in the maritimes? Or into something else?
