Missing aircraft with Aussie Billionaire in Africa

UPDATE; group reportedly flew to Cameroon on a biz jet, but chartered a CASA-212 for flight reported as missing.

A aircraft carrying at least 9 people, mostly Australian mining executives, has gone missing in west Africa, Australian media said.

The mining exectutives were from Perth based company Sundance Resources. The company operates an Iron Ore mine in Cameroon, near the border with Gabon.

“Sundance Resources regrets to advise that an aircraft chartered by the company has been reported missing after it failed to reach its destination,” the company said in a statement.

Multi-millionaire Ken Talbot said to be on missing jet.

Families of those involved were told that the plane was due to land in Congo 1am local time Sunday, however the private jet never landed at it’s destination and a search and rescue operation was now under way.

The executives had left from the province of Yaoundé in the republic of Cameroon for Yangadou in the republic of Congo.

No survivors of the two crew and nine passengers on board when the aircraft was found today.

On board, the entire Board of Sundance Resources. I can't imagine the corporate jet crew flying home to Australia after dropping off the entire board - and coming home empty.
