Hey. Try switching to 122.75 or 126.75

Post by phillyfan »

You people know who you are. Listening to 122.8 is getting to be damn painful. I spend 12 hours a day listening to you fun boys wishing each other a "good morning" from Sioux Lookout to Armstrong. Then you spend the rest of the day talking about how lovely the weather is and what your plans are for the weekend. "Get a room"

We get a lot of this in Gogama too, from Timmins, Cochrane etc. I don't mind a quick hello, but full conversations or making plans for the weekend that tie up the freq and many in french at that, is annoying and disrespectful!

If anyone says that the "weather is great" or "isn't it a great day to fly" on 122.80, I am going to hunt them down and fly into them.

I would like to make it through one day where someone isn't having conversational sex with their aviating boyfriend. Please.

Go company:switch to your company frequency to discuss your business
Go up a nickel;to engage in your mindless gabfest
Go Canada: 118.67 to engage in patriotic discusions and ridicule those cheese eating surrender monkies
Go Guns :130.30 to discuss the best bear gun ,sadly nobody has ever heard of Arsenal on guns even though they are known as the gunners
Go simon and garfunkel: the sounds of silence, way to cryptic of a message for most.Almost too sureal a joke; like how many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb ? answer: Fish
Go One:it is a secret
Go Two: also a secret :smt008
Big Hughie will give you a radio lesson in the Lakeview if you cannot stfu

I don't know, maybe it's irresponsible, but I just turn the damn thing off a lot of the time now and my mood has greatly improved. I actually caught myself sort of looking forward to going flying the other day.

Now it's just CBC on the ADF thank you.

Couldn't resist being a smart-ass, sorry.

Aviation has lots of one word declarative calls like Roger, Afirmative, Looking, WILCO etc etc...... maybe we need a word which means " Please OMG pleeeeeeaasssse shut up as you are tying up the radio with your moronic transmision" . The idea being you could say the call sign of the offender and the word and her/she would understand what they were doing and cease making stupid transmissions...... I nominate STOOFOO (STFU). Anybody got any other suggestions ?

Dude, you're on Guard...

Seriously, though, I'm with ya. It's called a lack of professionalism. I'll do it occasionally (up a nickle, BTW) when it's a buddy I haven't seen for a while, but the need to broadcast on a common frequency I just don't get. Maybe it's 'cause I'm shy  !

A parent... or a dispatcher *snerk*

They do it on company as well. *sigh*

It's really not that hard to 'drop it down a few', or Go 'Baker', I know for instance that Calm Air specifically had a second company frequency, officially it was assigned as a channel for the pilot union to discuss union business off the regular company frequency - in practice it was a chatter channel. But it doesn't take a designated channel to quit being an a**, and take it elsewhere.

There's also the guys who find it necessary to take the headphone from their ear and transmit whatever is playing on their ipod at the time on 26.7

I'm so sorry you've had to listen to me speaking in one of our official languages in an area that allows it. Pity you feel that way.

Hint: ''GFYS'' ain't a French a acronym

Listen PeeCreeper, Its not a pity at all! English is the general aviation language all over the world (even France). Unfortunately, Quebec wont pull its head from its ass and join the rest of the "English Proficient" world.

M.M. has been saying "roger" on the radio north of Sioux lookout for 30+ years. It's cool when he does it. The rest of you just sound like retards.

It's not really cool when he does it either. At least, I didn't think so when he started doing it.

Not to sound like a jackass but maybe you should know what you're talking about before you say something. "Roger" isn't used by us (YES I AM ONE OF THEM THAT SAYS "RAWGEEERRR") to be "cool". It is used in place of "switch" "go up a nickel" "go canada" "go guns" etc. to let us know that someone else we know from YXL is on 122.8 and wants to talk on the frequency we always use.

So the next time you hear us say it, you'll know that it's someone saying "HEY MAN! I'M ON HERE TOO. GO TO _______ so we can shoot the shit" without actually saying all of that. Maybe we do sound like retards, when we say "raaawwwgeerrrrrrr" but it's nothing compared to how we sound when we're on our own frequency and we aren't going to stop saying Roger, sorry.
