good to hear... i guess in a 172 its either all or nothing. he did a nice job considering the trees all around

If you're strapped into a harness, the 172 is very survivable in most accidents - as long as you don't stall it into the ground or hit the side of a building/mountain head on. Basically just down to the low stall speed.

Too bad it was SIFC's best 172 as well.

Long range tanks and autopilot.

If you read the CTV news story and watch the video it sounds like the pilot may have admitted pilot error in the video interview.

It does sound like he just boxed himself into a valley that he couldn't get out of.
